Us versus Them

This episode delves into the world of radical animal rights activists who are willing to kill people to get their point across. It's the age old question as to which species deserves to live. Harry and Nikki are in the field, putting their lives in danger. The key person who could save lives has taken a vow of silence. There are some really bad people on both sides of the issue, including overzealous police.

Sorry... what?

I honestly had no idea what was going on throughout these episodes.

It was scattered, there was no room for character development, so many names (honestly I've still no clue who is who and what their role was) and no real clear storyline.

This series has started to get a bit silly in terms of narrative - hoping number 11 will pick back up again to the Silent Witness we know and love!

A fairly average story.

Leo has to give to give evidence to an enquiry into Professor Clune, a friend of his.

I'm a massive fan of Silent Witness it must be said, but even I struggled with this one, it's not the acting, which is very good, Nicholas le Prevost in particular is great, but, I think it's the actual story, it's so bleak and grim, with no lighter moments, even Nikki and Harry are at odds with one another. The cops are pretty dislikeable too, Andrew Havill is so underused.

The conflict Leo faces with colleague Professor Clune is the best element of the story, so many awkward questions are raised, morality, compensation etc. The cliffhanger is great, although Nikki gets kidnapped so frequently I'm surprised she batted an eyelid.

It's watchable, but one of the lesser episodes from a great series, expectations are always so high. 5/10.
