Without revealing to much, good show!

Coolness. You know, I don't know what it is with Johnny, he never trusts Gene Purdey's attempt at trying to be a good guy. Gene is not that bad at heart, he just does dumb things.

In this episode Johnny confronts Gene about something he isn't quite sure about. Never a good thing to do when you only know half-truths, but I guess that's what can make a good story. Thing is, every time Johnny wants to know a fact from Gene, something that started in the fourth season but has really spiraled out of control in season 5 is he yells at Gene, screaming at him with such anger, like a child who is so used to screaming at a parent that they get ticked off at them easily and their fits become more common. What's up with that? You're so angry with him, John. Relax and it'll help you think. Even weirder is Gene always takes the yelling like it's his just punishment, or he'll tell John to mind his own business and in less than 24 hours show up at Johnny's house crying that OFP was right all along. Kind of redundant, this whole formula, but maybe it's trying to really get the message across to us that, deep down inside, even though he keeps uncovering more about Gene to find that his intentions are good, for some reason Johnny doesn't trust anything about him. Like he blames him for not being able to see his mother or something. I don't know, but if that's the case then that's pretty cool and the story has more layers of depth after all.

I also really like how Gene Purdy got his name. Cute little tidbit. You really have to rewind a few times and pause at the right second to catch it. When you do, though, it's a nice reward. Not only that but kudos goes out to the writing team for actually making me laugh! Maybe it's because it's 3AM or maybe they just managed to get it right but I really thought the interaction between Johnny and the front desk girl at the Antlers Inn was quite amusing. For the record, her character was editor at PsychicHeat.com. Being the DZ mark I am, I checked. No such address. Too bad, the girl was cute.

Oh, and this Sara vs. Dana count is just getting crazy! But, because they finally got more than a chuckle out of me and because of how Gene got his new name did I give this episode one more point than I would have. See that? The little revelations, they also mean something.
