A really action packed and fun filled episode. The anthropologist is adorable and hilarious. The desert people and Knowledge Spirit are creepy. The settings of the desert and underground library are breathtaking and wondrous.

This is one of my favourite episodes. I'm shocked that it has only an 8.8 rating.

I'd like to spend my vacation... at the LIBRARY!

Warning: Spoilers
A classic episode. The Gaang get wind of a secret library in the middle of the desert by meeting an aspiring historian and geographer.

It turns out this library has some secrets about the fire nation; eventually finding out that a solar eclipse is forthcoming. This changes the stakes of the show.

Toph is left outside once the library is found, and Appa gets stolen. That is a heartbreaking moment.

I have always loved this episode. Some great character moments and plot development. No problems i can find. Season 2 is a very solid one.

Also I love this line: "What are you two gasbags talking about?" Oh Zuko.

"I'm sorry, Appa"

Warning: Spoilers
The Good

1) Toph's relationship with Appa and her tragic failure to save him.

2) Sokka showing off both his intellect and his skill as a warrior

3) The Easter egg to Commander Zhao's plot from the season one finale (I know he was a Lieutenant when he came to the library but I still call him Commander Zhao)

4) Wan-Shi Tong is a perfect take down of the pseudo-intellectuals who maintain faux sophisticated positions of neutrality in times of crisis instead of acknowledging moral reality

5) The introduction of Sandbending

6) Sokka's plan to take down the Fire Lord by weaponizing a solar eclipse 7) The Library (probably) being a real reference to the Lost Library of Ivan the Terrible

The Bad

Professor Zei is sometimes a bit too stupid for my liking.

Nine on ten.
