- Air raid drills might concern young viewers if they worry about characters running to the basement to nervously sit in the dark. It might be upsetting to hear talk about someone's house (in London) being bombed or of families losing or fearing to lose their loved ones in the war (soldiers, parents, etc.)
- The story takes place in the midwest somewhere, where it's actually safe from the war. There are no scenes of warfare or of London, except for MovieTone newsreels. The story is told from the point of view of Americans at home.
- This is a good movie to watch as a family to explain to young viewers what is going on so they can understand this piece of history, what life was like during WWII. This movie is full of life lessons about family, community, sacrifice, etc.
- Durring a spelling bee a woman receives a telegram and runs off sobbing it is Implied her fiancé was killed in the war
- A family receives a telegram saying a member of their family was reported as missing in action but we find out he is safe and he comes home in time for Christmas
- A woman's son was killed in the war and we see her hang a gold star in her window.
