A fun episode with some delightful surprises

Warning: Spoilers
The Serpent's Pass is a nice break from the previous episode, which was very sad due to Appa's kidnapping. In this episode, Team Avatar is reunited with Suki and they attempt to travel through The Serpent's Pass together. Zuko and Iroh meet Jet and his gang (from Book One) on a ferry ride, and work together to steal the captain's food for themselves. This is a really good episode that has plenty of action and funny moments. The only reason I'm keeping my score lower is because of some of the decisions that characters make are illogical and could've been written better. Overall, it's a very fun episode with a lot of good humor, as usual, and great character development. I don't recommend skipping this one, because it's also very important to the main story.

"The universe just loves proving me wrong, doesn't it?"

Warning: Spoilers
We find the Gaang in need of getting across the great deep because Appa is MIA. They choose to escort a family across. They encounter a serpent that lives in the water, and Sokka exclaims "the universe just loves proving me wrong, doesn't it?" A fight ensues and they eventually defeat it.

It's a good episode. Nothing fantastic, but it's a good journey to Ba Sing Se. Sokka and Suki have a very good moment; the scene is important, because the moon (Yue) was symbolically getting in the way of their relationship. Great symbolism!!

It only goes up from here though, here comes Ba Sing Se and The Drill.

Decent episode

Warning: Spoilers
The couple full-blown naming their daughter hope was honestly too corny for my taste. (I know the same thing happens in Christopher Paolini's Inheritance Cycle but it was really corny there too.)

That said, I like how Aang is aware of the gravity of his own actions from the previous episode hence his overcorrection. And I like how witnessing a child born snaps him out of it (though naming her Hope didn't work for me).

I also like how there are other people who exploit Aang's fame (and the scene to which it leads is quite funny.) And the Cabbage Man is always good for a laugh. I also like how it builds on Toph's family connections.

And, it barely even needs to be said at this point but, everything about Zuko is great.

(Side note: This is more a flaw of the previous episode than this one but it's awfully convenient that the place Appa is is the exact same place to which Aang and the others are headed.)
