- Lucas Scott: [voiceover] My name is Lucas Scott. I'm a senior at Tree Hill High School. I play basketball - at least I used to. I have a girlfriend - at least I used to. And I have a best friend. Tree Hill is just a place somewhere in the world. Maybe it's a lot like your world, maybe it's nothing like it. But if you look closer, you might see someone like you. Someone trying to find their way. Someone trying to find their place. Someone trying to find their self. Sometimes it seems like you are the only one in the world who's struggling, who's frustrated, unsatisfied, barely getting by. But that feeling's a lie. And if you just hold on, just find the courage to face it all for another day, someone or something will find you and make it all okay. Because we all need a little help sometimes-someone to helps us hear the music in their world, to remind us that it won't always be this way. That someone is out there. And that someone will find you
- Brooke Davis: I love you, Lucas, and I probably always will... but we go days without having a meaningful conversation... and I used to miss you so much when that happened... but it never seemed like you missed me. And I guess because of it I stopped missing you. I mean look at today...
- Lucas Scott: [Thinking] I guess I should've said something... anything... I mean, for a guy who wants to be a writer, it suddenly seemed like no words had ever been written. But when someone tells you that they somehow stopped missing you, you're pretty much screwed, no matter what you say.
- Karen Roe: I am all for living life to the fullest, but can this day just be over already?
- Lucas Scott: Mom, you loved Dan, right? In high school?
- Karen Roe: Oddly, yes.
- Lucas Scott: Okay, I know you probably can't answer this for me, but what did you do when he didn't love you back? How did you get over it?
- Karen Roe: When I do, I'll get back to you.
- Lucas Scott: [voiceover] Dan Scott is many things: the mayor of Tree Hill, the once great hight school basketball player and Nathan's father. He's also my father, but he never claimed me. Believe it or not, I got the better end of the deal. I was instead raised by my mom with the help of my Uncle Keith, until Keith's life was taken
- Lucas Scott: [voiceover] The things that take 14 minutes: boiling an ostrich egg, Michael Jackson's Thriller video, it also takes 14 minutes to get from the Melina Bridge to Tree Hill Hospital. In those 14 minutes, three lives hung in the balance. For the rest of us there was nothing to do but wait. I guess that's why they call it the waiting room.
- Rachel Gatina: [eyes closed] Slut
- Brooke Davis: Bitch
- Rachel Gatina: Whore
- Rachel Gatina: Well, I know I'm not in Heaven cause they wouldn't have let Brooke Davis's kinky ass through the gates.
- Brooke Davis: And your ass wouldn't fit, at least not the old one. How are you?
- Haley James Scott: Nathan, you're a hero. You did everything that you could. Nathan: Did I?
- Nathan Scott: Did I?
- Rachel Gatina: They told me that Nathan saved my life. How is he?
- Haley James Scott: How is he? He's devastated, Rachel and it's all your fault!
- Rachel Gatina: Haley?
- Haley James Scott: I saw you in the limo with Cooper. You were arguing with him, weren't you?
- Rachel Gatina: It wasn't what it looked like.
- Haley James Scott: You ruined everything. You caused a huge scene at the reception. You stole the limo. And now everybody's life is worse because of you. Doesn't it even matter to you, a little bit? Are you going to change a single thing because of it? Nathan doesn't need your thanks and neither do I. So why don't you stay the hell away from us. All of us!
- Lucas Scott: Brooke kind of found out that I kissed Peyton, again.
- Skills: Well, it's a good thing you're in a hospital; 'cause your sorry ass in bad shape bro.
- Nathan Scott: I was going to surprise you when we got back. It's the London Bridge.
- Haley James Scott: Thank you.
- Nathan Scott: It's probably a good thing we didn't go... I mean the wedding wasn't cheap, now we have new furniture to pay for and... can't wait to get those hospital bills especially considering we don't have insurance.
- Haley James Scott: It's okay. You're safe... you're home now.
