Old footage of a different time and way of life

Britain's gradual retreat from empire to commonwealth is shown in these three episodes through film and documents from the people who lived through the chaos that came after the world wars. A lot of work was put into finding the material here, and it is incredible get to see the world as it was then. Writings from tribal people as well as English Lords and Ladies, and the working class at home are presented. The first episode's description of the massacres after the division of India and Pakistan were incredibly disturbing, and I would not recommend any of these episodes for younger children. The films were very graphic in their depictions of the bodies of victims, fighting, etc. In spite of the all too frequent horrors, I did enjoy watching the shows, and I believe the history presented here is incredibly important to our understanding of the world today, and to our decisions for the future.
