Spyder's life is replete with the beautiful things. He is surrounded by gorgeous women and lives in a world of hotel suites, private jets, stretch limousines and the unending adoration of his fans. To the rest of the world, this mysterious Gothic Rock God has it all, but what's behind the dark veneer, the make-up and the sensational outfits? What is the dragon or demon that Spyder does battle with, that the artist does battle with, that is ultimately manifest in their art? On the night of his twenty-seventh birthday, Spyder, a Glam Rocker returns to New York for a concert appearance with his band, The Lost Soulz. He has reached out to his long-lost best friend, Eric, in a contrived effort to throw himself a homecoming birthday celebration. Spyder has now set the wheels of fate in motion that will lead him headlong into a collision with his past. Derived from Joseph Campbell's Hero's Joinery, Coda focuses on the 'return' component of that story structure. Coda is an exploration of the back-story behind the archetypal dark figure in rock and roll. What are the forces that drive these charismatic figures such as Jim Morrison, Jimi Hendrix, Kurt Cobain and Janis Joplin to create such incredible music? Their ironic theme is the meteoric rise, tragic death and ultimate iconic stature they achieve within our society.
