Fun to watch, but nowhere near brilliant.

I enjoy watching this episode, but it brings out the worst in every aspect of the show - there is no doubt about that. The opening fight scenes are easily the best bit - they do make it fun to watch, but are so awfully primitive, unrealistic and badly-done - did you see how poorly done it was when that guy was axed in the back? The acting when Robin Hood was hit by an arrow was the worst I have ever seen - did Marion even give a damn? Was Robin even in pain? Roy's death was well done - it was probably the most moving part of the whole episode. But that's up against no competition, and aside from that, the episode proved to be rather a limp fish. Better than some - Robin's archery when shooting bread to the villagers was beautifully choreographed and executed - but with the hideous action sequences and lack of any real character, this episode is one to watch if you wish to see the light side of Robin Hood. Fun and a vital point in the series, but not quite brilliant. 6/10
