Strangely fascinating

Warning: Spoilers
There is no denying that this 1988 movie looks very amateurish. But actually, it adds to the charm and gives the movie some nerdiness that helps it. It runs for 16 minutes, but 4 minutes of it or so are just closing credits. The best thing about it maybe is that it never takes itself seriously and that is great as all the action in it is so absurd. One example is already the main plot. Pepsi vs. Ferrari? I mean why. These two have nothing in common. One is a drink, the other a car brand. Also the song that runs with the credits in the end perfectly fits the atmosphere. Equally insane. The writer and director is Ryan K. Johnson and even if he has not worked in these areas again past-1988, he is still working as a cinematographer today. I thought this was a little fun movie. The first line about equal right for women when it comes to places "man have never been before" was pretty hilarious. It's absolutely over the top, goofy, weird and chaotic. But it's also pretty funny with all its colorful characters. The lead actor who plays an insane version of Picard also did a good job. Recommended.

Better Than Enterprise

Warning: Spoilers
I showed this movie at a Shore Leave convention years ago and it got a lot of laughs. I realize that it was made for next to nothing by a group of amateur film makers but I have seen professional efforts that were not as well thought out. The main set (somebody's apartment) is a bit tacky but at least creative. The jokes are horrible (funny horrible not bad horrible), the character names sound like they should be in a porn movie. The props were a nice use of everyday items. I like the ship construction (I'm a Pepsi drinker) too bad paramount didn't use the ship idea for a promotion. The only thing I didn't like about the movie was the very end, I think he should have died and I think you know what annoying character I mean.
