Exclusive: Just ahead of the 20th anniversary of Elephant, the Palme d’Or-winning Gus Van Sant pic that marked his breakout role, actor Alex Frost has signed with Brave Artists Management for representation. He’ll be repped by Luna Wise, who came over to Bam at the start of the year.
In Van Sant’s critically acclaimed psychological thriller released in October 2003, Frost portrayed teenage pianist and sketch artist Alex, who with his friend Eric (Eric Deulen), moves to orchestrate a school shooting. He’s otherwise perhaps best known for starring alongside Owen Wilson, Josh Peck and more in the Steven Brill-helmed coming-of-age comedy Drillbit Taylor, which Paramount released in 2008. Kristofor Brown and Seth Rogen scripted that title, which hailed from Judd Apatow’s Apatow Productions.

With its list of new releases for May 2023, Amazon Prime Video is increasing its global reach.
The streamer’s biggest original offering this month is a German series. Hohlbeins’ – The Gryphon, based on the works of Wolfgang Holhlbein, will present a sprawling fantasy tale about three teens discovering a fantastical world called The Black Tower where “the Gryphon, a world-devouring monster, mercilessly subjugates all living creatures.”
The only other original title of note in May is Freevee comedy Primo on the 19th. Written by author and journalist Shea Serrano and produced by Michael Schur (The Good Place), this coming-of-age series will follow a teenager balancing “college aspirations, societal expectations, and a hectic home life on the south side of San Antonio.”

Ducks never say die! And actor Shaun Weiss–aka Mighty Ducks goalie Greg Goldberg–is hoping to get that message across significantly.
In a recent episode of the online chat show Addiction Talk, Shaun Weiss opened up candidly about his problems with drug abuse, theft, and his rather disturbing mugshot, looking a couple of decades older than his 40-year-old self.
“It’s hard to see those images…When I see them, they kind of shock me still…I was avoiding reflective surfaces, so I didn’t know what I looked like. I’m not exaggerating.” He continued, apologizing to Mighty Ducks fans. “I’m really sorry ‘Ducks’ fans had to see me like that…I’m really hoping my story can be useful, so it’s not just a sad thing that happened.”

“Drake and Josh” star Josh Peck has joined the sprawling cast of Christopher Nolan’s World War II epic “Oppenheimer.”
He will play Kenneth Bainbridge, a real scientist who was involved in the Manhattan Project, the code name for America’s effort to develop nuclear weapons during the second world war.
Cillian Murphy is starring as J. Robert Oppenheimer in the movie, which examines the physicist whose contribution led to the creation of the atomic bomb. Murphy will be surrounded by an A-list ensemble, including Emily Blunt as biologist and botanist Kitty Oppenheimer, Matt Damon as Manhattan Project director Leslie Groves Jr. and Robert Downey, Jr. as founding commissioner of the U.S. Atomic Energy Commission Lewis Strauss.
There are at least a dozen other recognizable actors already on board. Florence Pugh will play psychiatrist Jean Tatlock, Benny Safdie will portray theoretical physicist Edward Teller and Josh Hartnett will embody pioneering American nuclear scientist Ernest Lawrence.

John Hughes passed away in 2009 at 59 years of age, but his legacy as a filmmaker continues. Sequels to some of his biggest hits are still being produced (including 2015's "Vacation" and this year's "Home Sweet Home Alone"), and the affection so many of us feel towards his earlier movies is unlikely to fade anytime soon. He only directed eight feature films during his career, but he wrote more than three times that number. The odds are good that you love one or more of his movies, and you're not alone in that feeling -- unless the one you love is "Drillbit Taylor," in which case you're...

TV had the run of the place for awhile there during the pandemic. But now that vaccinations are speeding up and the weather is warming, it’s film’s time to shine. At least that’s the conclusion that can be drawn from HBO Max’s list of new releases for June 2021.
There are no real original TV series of note coming this month, which is highly unusual for HBO and HBO Max. In their place, however, are some really impressive film offerings. Major Warner Bros. titles like The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It (June 4) and Lin-Manuel Miranda’s In the Heights (June 11) both arrive this month. So too do some interesting documentaries like Revolutionary Rent on June 15 and Lfg on June 24. The former deals with the staging of the musical Rent in Cuba and the latter follows the U.S. women’s soccer team’s fight for equal pay.

Hubie Halloween, the next Adam Sandler-headlined Netflix film in fulfillment of the actor’s lucrative deal with the streaming giant, is imminently arriving on the streaming platform. Interestingly, the comedy not only provides vicarious celebration for a 2020 Halloween season likely to be squelched by the health crisis, but also showcases Sandler revisiting his character well of lovable imbeciles with quixotic missions, as teased in the first trailer
Appropriately set in the witchy hamlet of Salem, Massachusetts, the film centers on Sandler’s character, Hubie Dubois, a kind-but-eccentric local Halloween enthusiast, whose self-appointed role as a nebby safety patroller as earned him some derision. However, the threat of an escaped criminal and unexplained—seemingly supernatural—disappearances has turned this year’s fall holiday into an ordeal for the ever-vigilant Hubie, even in the face of incredulous authorities.
On that note, check out the Hubie Halloween trailer just below.

With a third of the world’s population officially on lockdown (a number that is increasing every minute of every day), Netflix and other online services are experiencing an unprecedented surge in demand.
So much so, in fact, that Netflix and YouTube plan to reduce streaming quality across Europe for the next month in order to ease the strain on the Internet. These are strange times, indeed.
Be that as it may, today is April 1st, which means two things – 1) it’s April Fool’s Day, so the Internet is littered with prank videos and other shenanigans and 2) the Internet’s major streaming services have rolled out a fresh wave of content. Speaking of which, thanks to What’s On Netflix, below you’ll find a comprehensive list of all 83 titles that have been added to the online platform as of April 1st.

As bullying seems to have reached disturbing new heights, it’s refreshing to see movies other than Drillbit Taylor attempt to capture the ever-changing landscape of emotional and physical harassment. Some Kind Of Hate deals with a victim’s mindset, and The Gift tackles a bully’s inevitable future, but Tara Subkoff’s #Horror deals with the most prevalent method of new-age harassers – cyberbullying.
Subkoff’s subtext is loaded with commentary about a generational problem that sees electronic devices glued to younger hands, as socialization has now migrated online where crops are shared, candy is crushed, and insults can be hurled from behind the safety of a glowing screen. Kudos to Ms. Subkoff for spreading awareness of an all-too-real horror story, but I’m not sure the artistic chaos of #Horror translates into an emotional arthouse piece that pulls no punches.

A few weeks ago, in anticipation of Guardians of the Galaxy's theatrical release, I wrote about the Curse of Tor Johnson, named after the old-school wrestler (and Ed Wood muse) who may have also been responsible for 50 years of terrible performances from professional wrestlers.
Since I wrote for WWE's Monday Night Raw for about six months, I wondered if the presence of Dave Bautista, a former champion, would jinx Guardians' box-office mojo. Three weeks into its theatrical run (and more than $175 million in receipts later), it's safe to say the Curse has been broken.

Kevin Hart is one of the biggest comedic actors going right now, but he has never lost touch with his roots with the actors and filmmakers inside the Judd Apatow circle. Some of Hart's earliest TV work was starring in three episodes of Undeclared, and he has followed that with small parts in movies like The 40-Year-Old Virgin, Drillbit Taylor, The Five Year Engagement, and, most recently, This is The End. Now that he has big has huge hits like Ride Along and Think Like A Man under his belt, he's apparently ready to leave the supporting parts behind and become a leading man with those same frequent collaborators. Nicholas Stoller - who worked with Hart on The Five-Year Engagement - has revealed to SlashFilm that he is currently developing a script that he hopes will have Hart and Seth Rogen playing co-lead roles. Meanwhile, her one-night-stand James Marsden and friends Gillian Jacobs and Sarah Wright are in hot pursuit, trying to end her long night from hell with a happy ending. Watch below! Did you ever have one of "those" days, where every step seemed to be in the wrong direction? Elizabeth Banks is having 12 of those at once in Walk of Shame, director Steven Brill.s disaster-filled follow-up to 2008.s Drillbit Taylor. Focus World released three new images from the upcoming comedy, though none of them do a particularly good job of conveying anything about the movie itself. Maybe the employee who let these out was having one of those days. Yet for some inexplicable reason, she heads out on the town and gets completely trashed with her friends. She meets James Marsden.s Gordon, who takes her back to his place for pizza and sex. While Elizabeth Banks has mostly been relegated to meaty supporting roles in films like People Like Us, The Hunger Games, The Next Three Days and Role Models, this time she's taking the lead on the comedy Walk of Shame. It's a classic race against time as Banks plays a local news reporter who has the sudden opportunity to become a network news anchor. The only problem is after her car is towed following a one night stand (with James Marsden), she has no phone, ID or money, and finds herself stranded and desperate to make it to the interview. This trailer reminds me of that movie Trojan War from 1997 with "Boy Meets World" star Will Friedle looking everywhere for a condom. And that's not a compliment. Watch! Not exactly the most exciting ratings bulletin today as we begin with A.C.O.D., which The Film Arcade picked up out of Sundance and has yet to set a release date. The comedy stars a large crew of notables including Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Jessica Alba, Jane Lynch, Adam Scott, Amy Poehler, Richard Jenkins, Catherine O'Hara and Clark Duke and was directed by first timer Stu Zicherman. As for the title, it stands for Adult Children of Divorce. And then, if you can believe this, someone gave Steve Brill another film. Brill directed the "iBabe" segment of Movie 43 and before that such classics as Little Nicky, Without a Paddle and Drillbit Taylor. This time around the film is Walk of Shame centering on a reporter (Elizabeth Banks) whose dream of becoming a news anchor is in jeopardy after she's left stranded in downtown Los Angeles after a one-night stand. In one version of the world, Ethan Hawke and Owen Wilson could have had nearly identical careers.
Both Texas-born and vets of the Austin indie filmmaking scene of the mid-90s, the two actors have since floated through independent, art house, and mainstream projects to varying degrees of success. Hawke, for the most part, stayed indie while Wilson went big. They are the story of Generation-x: Former malcontents grasping for authenticity and fame in an industry that is designed to make those dual aspirations somewhat impossible.

Given the news that American professional wrestling legend Dave Bautista (The Scorpion King 3: Battle For Redemption) has been cast as Drax in the forthcoming Marvel movie Guardians of the Galaxy, I thought I’d take a look at the ten best films to feature fighters turned actors. Check them out below:
Enter The Dragon (1973)
No list of fighters turned actor would be complete without Bruce Lee. Widely considered to be the best Martial Arts expert ever, he even invented his own Martial Arts philosophy – Jeet Kune Do. Before dying at the age of 32 Lee starred in a string of Kung Fu movies the best known of which is Enter The Dragon. What it lacks in plot and dialogue it more than makes up for in sheer power and energy.
The Mummy Returns (2001)
Dwayne Johnson found fame in the ring as ‘The Rock’ and proved to be a firm fan favourite.

With "30 Rock" guest stars Elizabeth Banks and James Marsden teaming up for the comedy Walk of Shame, we're hoping the film from Drillbit Taylor and Little Nicky director Steven Brill might actually be good. The story follows an L.A. news anchor who goes out for a night of heavy partying after an audition she believed to be a failure. But when she wakes up the next morning with no money, car, identification or memory of the previous night, she suddenly gets the call to be on the air at 5pm, and has to retrace her steps and gather everything she needs before time runs out. Now THR has word that Gillian Jacobs, a series regular on the troubled comedy series "Community," has joined the cast as Banks' best friend. More below! Jacobs is pretty funny, and she could almost pass for Banks' sister if a role called for it.

Community actress Gillian Jacobs has joined Walk of Shame, the forthcoming comedy from writer/director Steven Brill.
Elizabeth Banks leads the film as a highly-strung news anchor who finds herself locked out on the street with no money, no phone, ID or a car after a wild night out. Much like the plot from The Hangover, she attempts to remember the night before as she embarks on a series of misadventures and outrageous moments as she attempts to attend the most important job interview of her life.
Romantic comedy haunt James Marsden was recently cast opposite Banks, with Jacobs now joining as her best friend.

Steven Brill is no stranger to directing comedies as he was behind the lens for Little Nicky, Mr. Deeds and Drillbit Taylor. They had a few things in common, they had moderate box office success and they had a male in the lead role. What’s missing from his resume is a comedy with a female in the lead role. While we enjoyed "Pitch Perfect," for this writer the comedic highlight wasn't Rebel Wilson or Anna Kendrick, but Elizabeth Banks (who also produced the movie, FYI). Her small role alongside John Michael Higgins as a capella commentators provided some of the biggest belly laughs, and while we wait for someone to figure out that those two should lead their own movie together, we'll be content with the fact that Banks is getting a new comedy vehicle. The actress will star in "Walk Of Shame," the latest from writer/director Steve Brill, whose credits include "Drillbit Taylor," "Without A Paddle" and "Little Nicky." The anthology film has made a serious comeback over the past few years, particularly in the horror genre with films like V/H/S, Chillerama and The ABCs of Death. However, early next year Peter Farrelly will unleash an unparalleled project that brings together 11 different directors for a series of short comedy segments. Those directors include James Gunn (Super), Bob Odenkirk, Brett Ratner (Rush Hour), Elizabeth Banks, Steven Brill (Drillbit Taylor), Steve Carr (Paul Blart: Mall Cop), Griffin Dunne (Practical Magic) and, of course, Farrelly himself. A red band trailer for the film has arrived online this week, and in addition to being Nsfw, it's both raunchy and random. Like all anthology films, I'm sure it will be inconsistent at best, but there could still be some winners in here. The unfortunate thing is that the movie has a pretty terrible title. Movie 43 stars Emma Stone, Justin Long, Chris Pratt,...

The Watch
Directed by: Akiva Schaffer
Cast: Ben Stiller, Vince Vaughn, Jonah Hill, Richard Ayoade, Rosemarie Dewitt, Will Forte
Running Time: 1 hr 38 mins
Rating: R
Release Date: July 27, 2012
Plot: After his employee is mysteriously murdered, small-town American Evan (Stiller) gathers together a Neighborhood Watch (featuring Vaughn, Hill, and Ayoade) to catch the killer.
Who’S It For?: You really have to like Vince Vaughn specifically to get into this one. Coming at it from any other fan angle, whether it be an appreciation for Stiller, Hill, Ayoade, or even Schaffer, director of the legendary Andy Samberg starring vehicle Hot Rod, is just grounds for disappointment.
Expectations: Controversial last-quarter name change or not, The Watch has the comedy makings that could traverse unsurprisingly to greatness. Stiller and Vaughn have had high moments, Hill is at a peak (especially after 21 Jump Street), and Ayoade is a hit overseas (and a funny...

Weekend Box Office: 'The Avengers' Assemble The Biggest Opening Weekend In History With $200 Million
Box office: you just got Avenged.
Combining the feature attractions of four separate blockbusters, "The Avengers" was looking to at least surpass the first weekend gross of "Iron Man 2," which pulled in a non-3D three-day total of $128 million during this weekend two years ago. However, few expected the team-up film to surpass the final domestic tallies of both "Thor" and "Captain America: The First Avenger" in its first three days, roughing up previous weekend record-holder "Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows Part Two" in the process. That 3D-enhanced final installment of the 'Potter' series still holds the record for the biggest opening day at $91 million, but "The Avengers" will finish Sunday with a record breaking $200 million opening weekend. Hooray money!
You want numbers? How about this? By the end of Sunday, "The Avengers" will boast a worldwide tally somewhere north of $600 million. You want stats? "The Avengers" is...

Amid lots of “Fast & Furious 6” casting and speculation – Luke Evans? Really? – it’s nice to be able to report on some definitive (and high-profile) casting on a couple of upcoming movies. Pierce Brosnan and Elijah Wood have each lined up a new project, and we can tell you a little bit about those roles.
Wood’s new project is “Grand Piano,” written by Damien Chazelle (“The Last Exorcism 2”). Spaniard Eugenio Mira is set to direct while “Buried” director Rodrigo Cortes is attached to the project as a producer. The story will focus on a concert pianist (Wood) who suffers from stage fright and makes his comeback after a five-year hiatus. When he’s about to start he notices a threatening note on his sheet music, forcing him to play the best concert ever to save his life, and his wife’s. That load of old nonsense is described as...

You may not immediately connect them together in your head, but Seth Rogen and Kevin Hart actually have a fairly long history together. While they have possibly never shared the screen together, Hart appeared in three episodes of the television series Undeclared, which Rogen was a regular on; had a cameo in The 40-Year-Old Virgin, which Rogen co-starred in; and had a role in Drillbit Taylor, which Rogen co-wrote. Finally, after over a decade of being part of the same circles, they're finally being brought together. Rodney Rothman, who worked as a writer and producer on Undeclared, is currently scripting an "untitled police comedy" and both Rogen and Hart are attached to star, according to Variety. The trade says that the movie is already playing with tropes in the pre-production stage, as it's being pitched as the "first interracial police pairing in law enforcement history." Rothman has been developing the...

Universal exploring the idea of a sequel to this summer's Bridesmaids is no surprise. The movie made money and they want more and after seeing the success of The Hangover Part II this summer, despite how bad it was, the Uni execs are seeing dollar signs. The fact they're doing it without the involvement of star and co-writer Kristen Wiig isn't shocking either, this is Hollywood after all. You see, Wiig is balking at the idea, but of course, there is always the potential of centering the next film around Melissa McCarthy's character, after all wasn't she last seen eating cured meats off the chest of Air Marshall Jon (Ben Falcone)? What I do find humorous, however, is the quote from producer Judd Apatow who tells The Hollywood Reporter, "The key is we have to come up with an idea that is as good or better than the first one.

If these are the words that you’re longing to hear then either your name is Judd Apatow or you really need to get out more. In an article that ran in the L.A. Times, Apatow vented his frustration with the academy’s apparent bias against the comedy genre, while advocating the addition of a Best Comedy Picture category.
Apatow was obviously citing the dearth of comedies that have achieved the ultimate prize. No Academy love for such deserving classics as; Knocked Up, Drillbit Taylor or even the memorable Year One.

CBS Films' '7500' (Aka 'Flight 7500') is slowly but surely building up its passenger list and flight crew. Newly added to the manifest is 'Drillbit Taylor' actor Alex Frost. Christian Serratos ('The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1'), Jerry Ferrara, Scout Taylor-Compton ('Halloween') and sexy Aussie star Nicky Whelan (below) are also on board - quite literally....

Ranked: Judd Apatow Movies from Worst to Best Assessing every film from Apatow's gang, from The 40-Year-Old Virgin to the new Bridesmaids. By Andrew Osborne One of the knocks against Judd Apatow has always been that — with the exception of his wife, Leslie Mann — his cinematic clubhouse has largely been a rowdy boys' club. That may explain Apatow's involvement as one of the producers of Bridesmaids, the upcoming Kristin Wiig comedy (directed by Freaks & Geeks alum Paul Feig) that's being promoted as the female answer to raunchy bromances like The Hangover. But where does Bridesmaids fall in the overall Apaverse? To find out, we've created a worst-to-best ranking of every film from Apatow Productions. 15. Drillbit Taylor (2008) Apatow produced this My Bodyguard retread about a bunch of geeks who get continuously and obsessively attacked by a psychotic bully until they eventually hire a homeless con [...]...

Update: Gnomeo and Juliet was grossly overestimated on Sunday, bumping it down to second for the weekend, though it's still proven to be more than just a winter fling. The animated comedy was just a smidgen behind Hall Pass, which had a modest start but was more respectable than the ditched Drive Angry. Overall business was down eight percent from the comparable timeframe last year, when Shutter Island led, and the period was the least-attended late February weekend in 16 years. With $13.5 million on approximately 3,500 screens at 2,950 locations, Hall Pass was below par among comparable comedies. While its showing was better than Drillbit Taylor, it was lower than The Dilemma and Hot Tub Time Machine, and its gross was in the same range as the last two Farrelly Bros. movies, The Heartbreak Kid and Fever Pitch, albeit with less attendance. It was, however, the Farrelly Bros.' first No. 1 movie since Me,...

Hall Pass led a tepid Friday at the box office, while Drive Angry was ditched. Gnomeo and Juliet ranked fourth but is likely to surge ahead on Saturday and Sunday to the top the weekend as a whole. With an estimated $4.6 million on approximately 3,500 screens at 2,950 locations, Hall Pass was a bit of a softy compared to similar movies. Its showing was slightly better than Drillbit Taylor and a bit lower than Hot Tub Time Machine, and its gross was in the same range as the last two Farrelly Bros. movies, The Heartbreak Kid and Fever Pitch, albeit with less attendance. Drive Angry clocked a mere estimated $1.6 million on close to 2,500 screens at 2,290 locations, ranking ninth for the day, and a previous Nicolas Cage driving movie will describe its run: Gone in 60 Seconds. The last Cage movie, Season of the Witch, made $3.8 million on its first day, and Drive Angry...

Owen Wilson has, over the course of the last decade or so, become one of those awkward bones of contention among the general cinema-going public. The forty-two year old funnyman is commonly referred to as part of the "Frat Pack" of the 1990's, regularly starring alongside other members Ben Stiller, Vince Vaughn, Will Ferrell, and his own brother Luke. He is well-noted for his role as a sweet, charming, amicable everyman, or the flawed, happy-go-lucky type in films such as Wedding Crashers or Shanghai Noon; typecasting that is found either endlessly funny or hugely frustrating, depending on who you speak to. It is also a view of him that often overshadows his less conventional comedies, Zoolander for example; or his straighter work in films like Permanent Midnight or Behind Enemy Lines.
Perhaps what gains the least attention is his writing, which is essentially where he started his career. He began...

Last week we found out James Gandolfini would reunite with David Chase, the creator of "The Sopranos," for his feature directorial debut that may or may not be called Twylight Zones. The film takes place in 1960's New Jersey and follows a rock 'n' roll band named The Twylight Zones the families surrounding the band members. Now Variety has word on a whole slew of new cast members, starting with Brad Garrett ("Everybody Loves Raymond"), Christopher McDonald (Fanboys), Lisa Lampanelli (Drillbit Taylor), Molly Price (How Do You Know) and Bella Heathcote ("Neighbours") rounding out this full cast. We already know that Gandolfini is playing the disapproving father of one of the main characters and band members (played by John Magaro). Chase says most of the story follows a post-war, post-Depression era parent who has given his kid every advantage that he didn't have growing up, but now can't ...

Mel Brooks. John Landis. Ivan Reitman. Harold Ramis. These are just some of our comedy directing legends. However, I think Judd Apatow more then qualifies to be part of them. He almost single handedly created the template for modern day comedy. Bridesmaids is the next big comedy from Apatow and, well he didn't direct it, his fingerprints are pretty apparent in just the trailer alone. But is this Apatow's next big movie, or just another Drillbit Taylor?
Eh, half and half. I love Apatow, and I think star Kristen Wiig is one of the funnest comedians working today (look at her Saturday Night Live stuff if you need proof of that). However, this trailer really had nothing that excited me. It looks promising, and I laughed a couple times, but it does seem rather generic then it should. I mean, this is an R-Rated sex comedy about women from Judd Apatow...

Leslie Mann is one of the best comedic actresses of the moment. Had her husband, Judd Apatow, not cast her in Knocked Up, audiences may not have caught on to her comedic genius. I remember Mann as the female lead Ursula opposite Brendan Fraser in George of the Jungle and wondered why I never saw her again.
Mann did have other roles, for instance, in Big Daddy, but she was far from a household name. Then came Knocked Up where she played older sister Debbie to Katherine Heigl's Alison. Debbie and her husband Pete's (Paul Rudd) marital problems were just as funny as the oops-we're-pregnant shenanigans of Alison and Ben (Seth Rogen). Just as Knocked Up put the careers of Apatow, Heigl, Rogen into the stratosphere, so did it with Mann. Mann has since been in more of Apatow's films in Funny People, Drillbit Taylor and is fantastic in 17 Again.

It’s about time! ScreenRant [via Daily Blam] give us a cast photo for the remake of everyone’s favorite gung-ho, Cold War paranoia action flick, Red Dawn.
As a child of the 80′s (for better or mostly worse), the original Red Dawn – right-wing hawk John Milius‘s flick about a group of small town friends who fight off invading Russians – was an oddly iconic part of growing up in the Reagan era. The picture hasn’t aged particularly well, but as America has yet to experience the nightmare of a hostile invasion by a foreign army, (we’ve committed such a thing on others, but whatever) this fantasy appears to be part of our national consciousness.
MGM starting this remake in 2009, and after rewrite and casting updates, the project went quiet throughout most of 2010 as MGM financial future hung in suspended animation. After MGM filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy, it was bought by...

Leslie Mann has been cast in the Universal comedy "The Change-Up."
The "Funny People" actress joins Ryan Reynolds, Jason Bateman and Olivia Wilde in the story of a married guy who accidentally changes bodies with his single best friend and ends up pursuing a female coworker. Jon Lucas and Scott Moore ("The Hangover") wrote the screenplay.
David Dobkin ("Wedding Crashers") is directing and producing, along with Neal Moritz. Universal execs Scott Bernstein and Maradith Frenkel are overseeing the project for the studio, which plans an August 2011 release.
The CAA-repped Mann has recently appeared in "Shorts," "17 Again" and "Drillbit Taylor." She will next appear in "I Love You Phillip Morris," which hits theaters in December, and she performs a voice role in the Fox animated film "Rio," which opens in April.

Lame family comedy" was how The Independent's Anthony Quinn described Marmaduke, Hollywood's latest child-friendly caper. Other reviewers have been less kind: "It's suitable for kids, but only as a punishment"; "the human performances are utterly dismal"; "better than Cats & Dogs, but praise hardly comes much lower". The star of this stinker is Owen Wilson, the new go-to man for appalling comedies (see Marley & Me and Drillbit Taylor). But the cerebral, droll Wilson once co-wrote, with the director Wes Anderson (Wilson's childhood friend), the exquisite oddball whimsy Rushmore (1999) and the energetic Bottle Rocket (1996).

New York -- Is it a coincidence that the name of Will Ferrell's character in "The Other Guys" is Gamble?
With his newest big-budget comedy hitting theaters today, the A-list funnyman is betting he can deliver not just another hit, but one gigantic enough to erase memories of his most recent movie, the financial tar pit that was "Land of the Lost."
In the decade since he loosened himself from the "Saturday Night Live" tether, Ferrell has delivered half a dozen unqualified mainstream film hits. But last summer, he finally was forced to endure the sudden indignity of an unqualified disaster. "Lost," which Universal released during a prime early-summer June weekend, couldn't break the measly $50 million domestic barrier while carrying a production budget more than twice that.
Adding insult to injury, "The Hangover" crashed theaters that same weekend -- with relatively unknown stars at a quarter of the cost...

I think I'm really starting to get annoyed with Seth Rogen. At first, I didn't mind him, thought he brought something a little unique. Then, again in my estimation only, it seemed that he might have been reading the clippings.
He wanted to do an action hero sort of thing and copped to taking some very strange steps in the writing process of The Green Hornet, which might be a doomed movie, and all the while he hasn't improved as an actor to any real degree, and he wrote one-and-a-half pretty funny scripts. Pineapple Express I'm maybe 60% behind, Superbad's very good, and...Drillbit Taylor.
Anyway, Rogen tells MTV that he and collaborator Evan Goldberg might direct their next comedy, Jay and Seth vs. The Apocalypse, based on a trailer they created with Jay Baruchel. The concept is clever: After the world ends the only two surivors are Jay and Seth.
