You have to hand it to Eric Pringle, there are many big and bold ideas at play here, so many big concepts, in turn you have to hand it to the production team, editors etc for making such a cohesive story, spanning a mere fifty minutes. Possibly a shame it wasn't a four part story, but I think over two episodes it works incredibly well.
I am a fan of this story, I love the Malus, I love the influence that it has on the locals, and over the war games.
Some terrific imagery throughout, the visions look terrific, reminiscent of scenes from the classic horror, 'from beyond the grave.' I really did like the design of the Malus, reminded me of the face of Boe.
The location work is terrific, I much preferred the stories not in studios, definitely gave the show a higher quality feel.
It's hard to pick fault with the awakening, a lot goes on, but it's well woven and well made. 8/10
