The Doctor has been cut down to size by a gleeful, and newly invigorated Master, Adric and The Monitor set about trying to help him.
It's a good episode, it's perhaps not as polished as the first two, but they are exceptional. There are many pluses here in this third installment, firstly I would argue, The Master. We all have our favourite incarnation, be it Delgado or Dhawan, but none of them played the part with such vigour as Anthony Ainley, he clearly loved the part, and that shows, he is visibly loving every single minute of his time, and that is infectious. There is still a grand creativity to the story, I love how The Master and Doctor are forced to collude.
My gripes, well there are two, firstly, I think the sets here aren't the best, particularly when seen on blu ray, it all looks a little cheap m secondly, Tegan, an ordinary Girl has wandered into the TARDIS, is on a new world, and behaving as if there's a minor problem in her local branch of Costa Coffee, she's adapted to life on an Alien world a little too quickly and comfortably.
John Fraser is great as The Monitor, Ainley had been audible and visible before, but here The Master is in full swing, he's great.
