Doctor Who: Four to Doomsday: Part 3 starts as the Doctor (Peter Davison) is told by the robotic Bigon (Philip Locke) that Monarch (Stratford Johns) has devised a way to transplant memories & personalities into robots & is heading to Earth to plunder it's resources of silicon which he needs so he can continue to make his robots, unfortunately for the human race this means their destruction by an extremely deadly poison & Monarch is also trying to develop time travel so the Doctor & the TARDIS make welcome guest's...
This Doctor Who adventure was episode 7 from season 19 that aired here in the UK during early 1982, directed by John Black I think Four to Doomsday has been alright so far but nothing particularly special although this episode has had the best cliffhanger ending so far. The script by Terence Dudley has finally gotten round to it's point & Monarch's plans are revealed, his motives are different & in a way he is doing what he thinks is right rather than just for some elaborate scheme to take over the universe which makes for a change I suppose even if it's not exactly gripping. This episode has more going for it than Part 2 but there are still too many scenes of people walking aimlessly & why did they make Tegan (Janet Fielding) so annoying? Her moaning has really been getting on my nerves during this story so far.
This one hasn't really been much fun to watch, there's a lack of action, special effects, monsters, aliens or likable character's & the dialogue has also been somewhat stilted & dull.
Four to Doomsday is an OK story, there are certainly better Doctor Who adventures out there so this is probably one for the die-hard fans.
