The very forgettable beginning to a big career

Warning: Spoilers
"Tintarella di luna" is a French production from 1985, so this 17-minute movie is already over 30 years old. Don't be fooled by the title as it is also in the French language. It is a black-and-white film until almost the very end when we see some color too. And the song they used for the title is played at the very end too, which means something like "The Brown Colr of the Moon". Now really the only reason why this short film here has not become entirely forgotten is because it is the very first career effort by controversial Argentine director Gaspar Noé, who was in his early 20s when he shot this one. His father also plays a small role. Noé is a man who received a great deal of awards in his career, even if his subjects and stories will probably never make waves at the Oscars. But his approach is visible here too already, the dark atmosphere and almost sinister and diabolical take on the subject, the use of sexuality in the least aesthetic form you could imagine - all this should follow him in the decades too come. But it is not really a refined work here by any means and like I wrote probably nobody would even remember it if it wasn't for the big name attached to these slightly under 20 minutes. I give it a thumbs-down. Not recommended.
