Beautiful and macabre

The Ancient Rite of Corey McGillis explores the very foundations of what a classic horror story is. A dark and malevolent Creepshow style Horror EC comics tale story that pretty much left me in a silent brooding shock, which many horror films are quite often lacking lately.

A tortured mute teenager trying to bring his parents back together by raising his father from the dead! Old school monster movies have been my favorite kind and it was a pleasure to see that it can still work this damn well nowadays. The special effects are fantastic to say the least, given the clean yet gritty biting look of the film, which leaves an aura of beauty and dread.

Very atmospheric, with a touch of evil and complete with an explosive mayhem ending, Corey McGillis is dark horror in this genre seal of quality. Great!

Anthology of hell

This short horror film portrays an urban mythology of utter evil. It touches on the simplistic aspects of modern horror folklore without going too into depth on the obvious clichés of your average monster flick that it presents. One thing that does strike me the most is the very enticing atmospheric dread that engulfs you halfway through. The film itself does present a soap opera style but somewhat breaks open into a cinematic climax, which is an unusual choice of film-making these days. The performances are well above average, which is something that isn't really focused on low budget horror films at all and this is what will separate this film from it's competition. It is a visual gratification and a well Directed classic short horror. If you liked the Masters of Horror or Tales from the Crypt, then this is the film for you.

An excellent classic Horror

I picked up the DVD and thought to myself, "Hmmm could be a bit like all the other classic horrors." Man was I surprised to see a film that captures all the ideals of a classic horror but also a film that introduces new ways of bringing life to a horror film.

This film draws you in from the start with believable characters and plot line and slams it all home leaving you shocked and struck for words.

A credit to the team that put this together. Brad Wilson and Jonny Boxer as father and son are a perfect match. Although I must say I wouldn't want to meet Brad Wilson's character 'Corey' in real-life, he's creepy.

I loved it, what a great zombie film. What is with the man cops neck, that was almost as freak as the zombie. Great film. Was this from Australia? I will go to Australia if woman police look like the woman cop in this film.... The raise of dead spell in the tower is really great and I think it looks for real, all the writing symbols on the wall, not sure though. You must watch if you like zombie film, have not seen one like this for long time. I hope this people who made this make some more and I hope it comes to Germany for something. I was lucky to watch because my friend got copy of DVD from someone in Fantasia, I think. If anyone know if the makers have a web site I would like to view it.

sehr gute Muß-Uhr.
