Not just a Cardcaptura Sakura rip off
info-591826 May 2018
While this show starts off a bit predicatable, it ends up being quite different to the unsual magical girl series. Firstly, though it appears aimed at kids, some of the storyline is not what you would expect - and a bit more sophisticated. Not that kids couldn't watch it (my 8 year old daughter did and thought it was great) - its a bit more on the drama, and less on the 2 dimensional villains. The bad guys have a deeper side to them, and aren't just stupid monsters bent on destroying the world. Its really a sci-fantasy series, with magic mixed in with science fiction, that largely it resembles the magical girl type universes. I binge watched all 12 eps with my daughter, so definitely worth looking at if you and the kids like the magical girl genre - one of the better ones.

Warning: Spoilers
Its not something you could expect from "Magical Girl" genre if you're a person who hates Sailor Moon you'll be surprised when you find out just how much you like this title !!! The story is told to us in a unique for this genre way ! one of those things i like in Anime cause you just simply never know what will you get ! (Unlike Soap Opera's where basically everything is the same !) OK first thing characters although typical for this genre are "Human" they know why they're there also evryones has a well developed Relations which drive the storyline ! Although the world shown in the anime tends to be Candylike we must accept that we see the world just like third grader does !!! And that it can be serious at times it just that the Anime is influenced by the main character !! So we have Evil enemies although they're not completely evil cause the Genre does not Allow that ! I personally like the fights and the settings of the "Magical Girls" base !!! Which is also showned to us in a reliable way as a Time and space Beuro which exists somewhere in space !! Psychology of the characters is also well made ! Also I like how the converting of evil guys to good guys have been done (The main character is so talkative that she could have converted even Alucard to a good side !) Also there's a lot of sense of humor in the series an example being a Childlish Mother being a parent to an over matured boy (in his attitude Chromo seems to behave more responsibily than his mother the captain which is often very funny ! Also humorous is the fact that she adopted one of the main vilians although it also shows that the green haired captain has also a very caring hearth and despise her childlish behaviour she seems to be suited for the job actually i would like to see such people in real world)This is a most see for every Anime fan and also for People who didn't see any titles as this is a good title to start !

A Magical Time For All
Cardcaptor_Jim8 June 2009
Warning: Spoilers
Nanoha Takamachi is a third grade student who finds an injured ferret and takes him to the vet with her friends. Little does she suspect that the ferret is actually an alien boy who failed in his mission to seal Jewel Seeds that contain evil forces. Yuuno, the ferret, telepathically summons Nanoha when a monster escapes from one of the Jewel Seeds. Nanoha is shocked to learn that the ferret can communicate with her, and even more surprised that she can summon magical powers to battle the forces of evil using a jewel attached to Yuuno's collar. With her newfound powers, Nanoha defeats the monster. This is just the beginning of her adventures as Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha. But defeating monsters will come across as being easy when she comes face to face with Fate, a young girl her age that wants the Jewel Seeds for a sinister purpose.

Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha starts off as a combination of Cardcaptor Sakura and Sailor Moon - my two favorite manga and anime series - but takes a darker tone with some of the later episodes. Nanoha not only has battles in her neighborhood, but eventually travels to inner space to battle a sorceress hell bent on bringing her dead daughter back to life. Certain story elements clearly make this series for older children, and not a family audience. However, don't let this stop you from checking out what can sometimes be a surprising story.

The animation is very well done, and it has fantastic colors. The characters are well defined and back story is provided for most of them. The only characters we don't get to know very well are Nanoha's family and some of the crew members on the spaceship in dimensional space. The music is enjoyable, with cute pop songs at the start and close of each episode.

Whatever you do, don't let any negative opinions from other so-called "critics" stop you from checking out a highlight in the Japanese magical girl genre. Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha really satisfies one's appetite for a good fantasy show.

Its all about magic
gangrelkane19 January 2008
If you are fan of the Sakura card captor series, this is a series you must see, because its all magic and powers, also the battle of good and evil, in a quest of a very strange gem needed to save a parallel world. Also this series contain good and very developed characters, interesting situations and you could think that is a very Girly series, but not, it contains a very good combination of humor and magical fights that are worth to see. But please not try compare to other series that contain magic and fights, because this is very unique and has his own magical that can make you pass a good time.

Worth to give a chance.

Saccharine, clichéd series
Aleta_Nook13 June 2017
I only saw the first episode of this and then dropped it.

Nanoha does not act like a nine-year-old. She is in third grade, yet she's very perceptive for a third grader and can be sickeningly sweet, too. She is simply a normal caring, idealistic third grader.

I found Arisa very annoying and bratty. Like how she yelled at a dog to stop barking but she loves dogs? She's a hypocrite!

There were some religious things in it, the thing that I hate the most about anime.

This show felt like a long time watching it and I kind of couldn't wait for it to end.
