Al Needs to Relax!
Sylviastel15 June 2009
I have a rabbit that looks just like the rabbit in this episode. Anyway, Al suffers an emotional setback or breakdown during a shoe sale. The doctor advices that he get a hobby or grow a garden. So he decides to grow a garden in the backyard to calm him down. It would be fine but there is a rabbit who is stealing and eating his carrots. Again, it's Al versus Rabbit. Much like the episode where Al tries to catch and kill the mouse, Al will stop at nothing but to hurt this precious rabbit even explosions and flooding the neighborhood. Just when he thinks he's won, he's lost. It is a funny episode and that rabbit is beautiful.

Possibly the funniest episode in the series

Poor Al has a nervous breakdown during an "After Midnight Shoe Sale" at the store. His doctor says he suffers from too much stress and recommends that he take up a relaxing hobby. He decides to start a vegetable garden in the back yard--where he can grow "ham, and fish, and pizza, and beer"-- but finds himself battling a seemingly indestructible rabbit who keeps raiding his garden.

This has got to be one of the most hilarious episodes in the series. An homage to the great 1951 Warner Bros. cartoon "Rabbit Fire" with Bugs, Daffy and Elmer--Al, naturally, is Elmer--the episode has some great sight gags, terrific one-liners and some very funny routines (watch where Kelly explains to Al the dangers in hunting rabbits: "they'll tie your barrel into a bow and it will explode in your face!"), and a truly funny ending. If you're a true MWC fan, you won't want to miss this one.

Ole McBundy Had A Farm

Another silly episode of Married With Children, but thanks to Ed O'Neil's performance, like the last episode it's also one of the funniest. Oh how the Emmy's have robbed that man.

Plot In A Paragraph: After Al's doctor suggests he take up a relaxing hobby to help deal with his stress, Al decides to become a Gardner and builds a vegetable garden. Only to become embroiled in a battle with a cunning rabbit who keeps stealing his carrots.

As the episode focus's largely on Al, the rest of the cast Katy Segal as Peggy. Amanda Bearse as Marcy, the gorgeous Christina Applegate as Kelly and David Faustino as bud aren't given much to do besides a couple of scenes. But that's OK, because O'Neill is superb once again.

Season 5 of "Married With Children" is great TV.

Lick his onions!

After the really daft alien episode comes this almost-as-silly story of one man versus a rabbit. Al is suffering from stress so he takes up gardening, digging himself a vegetable patch in the back yard. Unfortunately, a wascally wabbit steals his carrots, leaving Al more stressed than when he started.

Like a live action Looney Tunes cartoon, this one sees Al's efforts to rid himself of the rabbit escalate, until he resorts to the old 'dynamite in the fake carrot trick' that never worked for Elmer Fudd either. Highlights of this episode include Al's version of Old McDonald (Old McBundy) and Kelly giving her father advice on hunting rabbits ("don't put the barrel in the hole or else he'll tie it in a knot and shoot you in the face").

It's a whole lot of fun, especially if you're a fan of Warner Bros.' Bugs Bunny cartoons.
