AL Loses his license!
Sylviastel18 May 2009
Al loses his driver's license and must depend on his family to get to the racetrack so he can win some money. Unfortunately, the Bundys have other things on their minds. Al losing his license means that he has to walk to work or take the bus or carpool with the Rhodes if they offer. THe loss of a driver's license can be devastating when you are so dependent on the car to get around town particularly to work and to the racetrack. When Al realizes that he could win some money, he has to depend upon the kindness of his family so he might be better on the kindness of strangers to take pity on him during his desperate hour. Of course, Kelly has to choose between taking her dad to the racetrack or missing a fight between two boys for her and Peggy believes nothing ever starts on time anyway.

Not a winner.

While Al is taking Kelly for a driving lesson, he is pulled over by the police, who give him a ticket for allowing his driver's license to expire. Al must now take a test before he can drive again, but doesn't study. Kelly passes her test, but Al fails. Now Al must rely on either Peggy or Kelly to take him to the race track so that he can bet on the horse that he has been given a tip on. Of course, neither show up on time, but Steve has taken Al's advice and has placed $100 on the horse.

Born to Walk suffers from predictability. We know Al is going to fail his test; we know Kelly is going to pass; we know both Kelly and Peggy are going to be too late to take Al to the track; and we know Steve is going to win big on the horse now that Al hasn't been able to bet on it. It's a mildly amusing episode, with the occasional chucklesome moment, but it's definitely not a classic.
