I thought this movie was OK... I mean it was everything I would've expected, but from the previews they kind of gave most of it away... the story never left its predictable plot line. The actors... well... they were OK... it wasn't 2007's golden globe nominee performance... if you know what I mean. So there's the whole boxing thing and then he finds his heart in double dutch... yea... OK... and of course they win the competition in the end and everyone's merry or whatever... But you know you can't really expect much from typical Disney movies... I thought it was realistic... at points... and it was a great story... but... shall I say... BORING? Keke Palmer is a great actress... and she was OK in this movie too... but it wasn't her best. Same for Corbin Bleu. Don't get me wrong, the movie was good... non-original... but GOOD... Just WAAAYYY WAAAAAY too predictable. For those of you who haven't seen this yet, you're not in for a mind-boggling story. Ugh, I mean it was decent and enjoyable... I guess... but couldn't they have at least added some twist to it? COME ON!!!

i must say that the detailed explanation of lobo girl, pretty much said it all. i was not impressed with this movie for it lacked fundamental points in order for a movie to succeed. 1. humor (the funniest part was watching Corbin bleu do those cheesy back flips in the beginning) 2. romance (just like camp rock, the ending of whether or not kiki and Corbin ended up together is still hanging) and 3. substance (it seems as if everything has been molded off of high school musical!!!! i mean, the same plot. main character struggles between passions of two opposite paths and meets a girl along the way. wow...I'm intrigued...NOT!! anyway, i must say i am biased to lobo's ah-mazing comment because i know her, but that's okay because it still covered everything that people should know before they commit themselves to watching this movie. well, done lobo p.!! see u soon!!

Jump in isn't horrible, but it's that generic teen show where you can predict scene by scene.
The whole plot has been done since Adam and Eve if they even existed. Dad/god says do this...Son/Caine does something else... in the middle dad/god is angry...by the end dad/god forgives...and everyone lives happily ever after.
It's not a go-to movie. It was probably just to milk some coins from High School Musical.

This is a disgusting piece of garbage. Simple as that. The acting is horrifyingly wooden, the direction is woeful and the script? I just wanted to kill myself every time the characters opened their mouthes. The situations were amazingly UN-realistic, i mean how many people seriously go to a skip rope competition? And why is everyone such a stereotype? Who seriously even would laugh at that, or tease someone because of that? Are these teenagers or 5 year olds? It was just a supremely irritating film, and highly advise anyone with half a brain cell to avoid this at all costs. Now excuse me while I swallow a bottle of painkillers.

This product from the Disney Studios finds young Corbin Bleu taking center stage as a young Golden Gloves boxer who joins a jump rope competition with a bunch of girls. Naturally something like this is going to raise some eyebrows, especially among the group he travels with.
There are some who might say Corbin should have been the one starring in those High School Musical flicks and in Jump In, Corbin shows what he can do in a starring role. He certainly has the moves for boxing, dancing, and for double dutch jump roping.
Corbin Bleu is one of the more winning personalities that come out of the Magic Kingdom currently and he and Keke Palmer make a very nice young couple on the screen. Corbin even got a hit song out of the film, Push It To The Limit, a motto to use in both boxing and double dutch.
You could do a lot worse than this film and the Magic Kingdom has on occasion.

yeah OK look I'm not the average "everything" is about racism kinda guy, I'm a 24yr old white guy and i found the stereotypical cliché's in this movie were abominable, the first competition was composed of pretty much a black versus white base, the African American girl being portrayed as slack jawed smack-talkers and the white girls portrayed as up-tight snob's.
i don't think I've seen such a blatant ethnic based cliché since the blackbird trio from dumbo
also its about boxing? the lead character even for a Disney movie frustrated me with simply how weak he seemed throughout the entire movie,.
this is defiantly the reason i should avoid waking up and sticking channel5 on in the morning.

This is the only movie I've seen that practice Double Dutch, it's nice to see a different sport. I remember me watching this as a kid and jumping all day long with my siblings. It is a very entertaining movie for kids, and I'm sure young adults can resist it. The songs are good and the pacing works, it's not boring. Good message, the story is predictable, yes, but still fun to watch with kids.

Previews of HSM's Corbin Bleu jumping double dutch made us want to catch the replay broadcast of this Disney Original Movie. I never really thought that double dutch is a serious sport for some people. I have never even seen anyone jumping double dutch in real life where I live. The conflict of Corbin's character Izzy to be a boxer (as the dream of his ex-boxer dad) versus that of being a double dutch jumper (thought to be a sissy girls' sport) has been tackled in so many other youth fims, not the least of which was High School Musical itself. But the leads are very talented and engaging. And furthermore, I was very entertained by the music, dancing and jump rope skills displayed in this movie.

I watched this movie on Monday night and let me tell you, I thought it was great! I never knew that double-dutch is taken so seriously by some people. I think that Corbin Bleu did an excellent job playing Izzy in the movie. He is such a great actor and him doing all the gymnastic moves in the beginning was great! Some people may think that the movie was taken place in the "ghetto" but there was nothing ghetto about it. It's just a movie where a young teenage boy who is a boxer, wants to give it up because it's his fathers dreams. Not his. This movie shows that you can do anything if you put your mind to it. Don't let anyone stop you. Corbin and KeKe Palmer are great workers together. You can easily tell that they have great chemistry with one another. I believe that you guys would enjoy this movie. Only if you can understand the true meaning of double-dutch and how it's taken seriously about something. It's not just about jumping rope, but about putting your heart and soul into something you really want to do.

If I didn't knew "Jump In" was a Disney Channel movie, I would guessed it was a TV movie from another channel. This urban-oriented flick is a rare DC flick with a more mature feel and tone and it genuinely feels like a TV movie from a more mature channel. While it's still a light-hearted film, "Jump In" is the least cheesy Disney Channel flick I've seen. It seems as the executives of Disney woke up and decided to made a DC flick aimed for a older teen group, although kids and tween's can still safely enjoy the film.
And to be honest, it's good to see a DC film which isn't overwhelmingly sugar coated. Anyhow, "Jump In" is still a cute and lighthearted movie. It's nice and refreshing to see a urban film with almost an entirely Afro-American cast (which is something they should tried out for "The Princess and the Frog") from Disney Channel. While the story and moral is quite traditional, the film delivers a valuable message to the viewers and comes off with a quite decent drama, insuring the story's mature tone.
Although none of the acting is Oscar-worthy, the cast are a good fit for their roles; Keke Palmer is adorable and likable as Mary, David Rievers is a good TV-dad, Kylee Russell is a cute little sister for Izzy without outshining the other cast, while Patrick Johnson Jr is credible as Izzy's hostile nemesis Rodney. Those who watches "Hannah Montana" will recognize "Amber" (Shanica Knowles) as Mary's friend Shauna and Shanica delivers a decent performance. And Izzy's two friends Chuck (Masin Elsadig) and L'ilEarl (Micah Williams) are amusing.
It's no strange that Disney wanted Corbin Bleu to Starr in his own film. He's got lots of star potential; charisma, looks, presence and sex appeal. But is he really a good actor? Well, to be fair on him; although he's far from an Al Pacino or an Robert De Niro (just to take some examples), he does a decent performance as Izzy.
If there's anything to complain on "Jump In", it must be the overall presence of the "villain" Rodney, which also was a problem in "Camp Rock". Although the villains in DC have back-stories which makes the viewers sympathize more for them, their back-stories doesn't get solved and they still have to surrender to the protagonist. Those solutions feels too slight and out of order.
Otherwise, "Jump In" may not be innovative or a masterpiece, but still a entertaining and cute film to recommend and to enjoy. It has pacing, boxing, lot of impressive double dutch movements, a little romance and catchy, urban music.

Jump In is great! It tells an amazing story about doing what you love no matter what other people say. The acting was believable and felt genuine. The music was terrific, along with the Double Dutch performances. It surprised how well done this movie is. The only thing I wish was that I saw more connecting moments between Izzy and his family and Mary. I feel like adding in Marry and Izzy was pretty pointless and I would've been fine with them flirting but nothing else.
Overall, it's great.

Although I did like this movie a little bit, I thought it was basically a remake of High School Musical. However, instead of the star being the "basketball guy", he's the "boxing guy". In both movies the star has a pushy father who wants his son to play the sport that he played as a young adult. Also, the star meets a new girl he likes, and he wants to try something new that she likes, such as trying out for a musical, or, in this case, doing double dutch. His friends will rag on him because it's "not his thing", and he will have to choose between what he wants to do, and what everybody else wants him to do. These two stories are one in the same, just from a different point of view.
Fun to watch others do what I could never do.

It's fun to watch the Jump Roping scenes. It's amazing to watch these kids do what I could only dream of doing. I'm too old to be jumping like that now. I don't know what would have happen way back when. Corbin Bleu is very talented and is the reason why the film works so well.
The story is your standard sports inspirational film. It's filled with touching moments and reconciliation between arch rivals. There is some romance and the typical father who wants his son to be just like him but understands when he wants to change his interests in life.
Not a bad film. Wouldn't add it to my library but it might be worth a rental. After you watch both 'High School Musicals' of course. If you don't want to sit through the whole film, go to the bonus features and watch the music videos with some 'Jump In' Highlights.

I really enjoyed sitting down and watching this movie. In my opinion the girl who played Karin did not act well. Her lines were over rehearsed and she showed no emotion. Keke palmer's acting was shaky but good. Corbin's was exceptionally well and so was his father. This movie was cool fun and nice to watch. I wished it was longer. I was amazed at how many African-Americans were in the movie. I loved who narrated the movie and how they showed us who it was in the end. I recommend you all to sit on the couch and watch this family-friendly, funny, and truly meaningful movie. It teaches good values and morals and the importance of solving things peacefully.

Out of all the Disney Channel movies I've seen, this one is by far the best. It even outranks High School Musical on my list! The plot line was well developed and had a message kids can learn from. The movie had a fitting blend of humor and seriousness, and I thought that the actors were all wonderful! Some scenes could have been delivered better, but nobody's perfect. I also really admire Corbin for playing a double dutcher. Sure, you can argue that he's an actor and it's his job, but even so, he could have refused the part. Anyway, back to my main point... The stereotype in the movie that girls are the only ones who jump rope is, unfortunately, present in real life, and I think that this movie showed people that yes, boys can double dutch. My little brother thought the double dutch was cool, and for him, that's impressive.
Although the main focus of the movie was on Izzy and his double dutch dilemma, my favorite character was Tammy. I think that she was the most inspirational character out of all of them, for girls at least. Not only is she a female athlete in a male-dominant sport, but she also helps Izzy realize where his heart lies. I guess she really does have "a good head on her shoulders." Girls should try to be more like Tammy and less like Barbie. Call me a feminist, but it's true.
Overall, this movie was extraordinary! Next time it's on Disney, grab a few friends and watch it together. You'll like it, I promise!!

I thought the movie was a very good family movie. Corbin & Keke did a great job. The movie obviously worked around the "double dutch" but I would have liked to see a little more about Izzy's family situation. Kylee Russell as his little sister was a perfect match, because they could truly be siblings.
The interaction of the main characters was great. Keke and Corbin worked well together and the supporting characters were very enterataining. There appeared to be a lot of chemistry, which made the movie flow very naturally. I thought that Kylee Russell did a really good job. She seemed to have the right spunk as the little sister of a "cute and popular" big brother. I hope they do a sequel and spend a little more time with Izzy and Karin.

This was a very cute film. Corbin Bleu reminds me of Lil Fizz from B2K. Handsome young man and I loved the flirty thing going on with him and Keke Palmer's character Mary. This movie came out in 2007, but I don't watch the Disney channel or Disney movies much so I'm late to the party on this one. The movie is about a young boxer (Izzy) who has a crush on a double dutch enthusiast (Mary). Giving her a hard time -- as all teenage boys do -- and having to drag his little sister out lead to him finding out about a double dutch competition. As with all sports movies, one team member quits and they need someone else to fill in. Izzy, being a boxer, already knows how to jump rope but doesn't understand the point of a double dutch competition. Chances are if you've seen a sports film you already know how this one goes. It's predictable but adorable. I loved all the G-rated flirting Mary and Izzy did. The movie also had a little bit of edge with Izzy's rival who's father isn't around and who comes from a poor family. I like the way the movie mentioned his rival's circumstances without relying on them in a "whoa is me" way. And Izzy's two sidekicks cracked me up, especially Mr. "I'm a be sick." That dude reminds me of so many guys I grew up with. He was actually my favorite to watch for comedy relief.
Side note: This film made me remember how much fun I used to have jumping Double Dutch. I wasn't nearly this nice but I could hang and I used to always be outside jumping with other girls. Only reason I didn't give this movie 10 stars was because I thought more would come of the crushes. Then again, this was a Disney film so I guess that wasn't supposed to be a big part of it.

What a delightful surprise. My kids wanted to see this, and when it came on the Disney channel we all watched. I had a book in my lap, figuring I wouldn't find the movie all that interesting. But the book stayed closed in my lap (except for during commercials.) A nice movie. Clean. A message of "violence doesn't get you anywhere." And many more. It even taught some nice family values. In one scene, the boy says some harsh things to his father, but as soon as he sees the hurt in his father's eyes, he says he's sorry. A nice and rare example in this day and age of movies. All in all, a good family movie. I recommend it. Oh yeah, and the Double Dutch scenes are pretty good, too. :)

I have to give props to Corbin Bleu. He's a much better actor than Zac Efron. Keke Palmer did a good job, too.
I never considered jumping rope a "sport" until I saw this movie. To see how hard these guys work at what they do is amazing! Some of the tricks were SO awesome. It's cool, because I can't even double-dutch! Though the movie was predictable "too the limit", it had a good theme -follow your dreams. Even though this movie has the themes of EVERY Disney Channel movie out there, it was still a heartfelt story.
It amazes me how much they had to work to get it all perfect. But the romance in the movie freaks me out. I am about the same age as Keke, and she had a "relationship" with the 17-year-old Bleu.

First of all, I have to tip my hat to Disney. In the past, the movies they have made have been over exaggerated kid-movies. Before seeing this film I never thought much of jump roping as a sport, just an activity. It TRULY changed my mind. The storyline begins with Izzy (Corbin) a young aspiring boxer who becomes a stepper in a local double-dutch jump roping team. Izzy now finds himself stuck choosing between boxing and jump roping, friendship and family, who people want him to be, and where his heart truly lies. Not to mention mocks from piers, and a bully who tests Izzy's limits.
It's good to see a movie that is realistic, and yet has good morality. Jump In! captures your attention by awesome meandering dance moves, shuffled into jumping and ropes and a bracing storyline to go with it. Corbin Bleu brilliantly makes his mark in Jump In!

Jump In is one of the best movies that Disney Channel has ever created (Along with High School Musical, the Famous Jett Jackson, Cheetah Girls & Zenon Girl of the 21st Century.) Although the story line reflected a lot of the same concepts of those displayed in High School Musical, the audience (including myself) really enjoyed it. This movie was well cast, however, the actor's abilities were not adequately displayed, meaning that both Corbin and Keke are capable of acting 100 times better than what they did in this movie, but seeing as though it is Disney Channel... Corbin Bleu should really expand and explore the world of actual movies, because according to his previous works, he is really talented and would do well. Keke is already creating feature films and should continue to do so. She is a talented young girl with a promising career (in my opinion at least). All in all, I love this movie. Keep it up Disney!

I hope it comes out with a sequel! It was the best movie EVER except for HSM and HSM 2! The Double Dutch is amazing and it is all actually Corbin Bleu! His real dad plays Izzy's dad and the 'rememorable quotes' section that saying, Corbin and his dad said that is almost real life for them! Keke Palmer is really good at double dutch too! But one girl on their old team is really mean. As I was saying Keke Palmer does a great job but some of her smiles are slightly unrealistic! If you like some of the background music, check out the soundtrack! Corbin is a great singer! As well as Keke! They did a great job and I hope there will be a sequel!

Well, I won't ruin anything here. I thought the movie was pretty good. As far as the real jump rope stuff, I was proud (as a real competitive jump roper) of the director/whoever for doing such a good job making the jump rope routines difficult and full of tricks that we actually do! Marcus Taylor did an awesome job doubling for Corbin. The one scene where the girls have to compete alone opens with an Asian team from Japan competing. I was actually able to meet all the guys at a summer camp in Tampa, Florida last year, and they are all such cool guys! Jump rope really is an awesome sport. It was really nice to expose the hidden world of jump rope to kids. People don't understand what the sport of jump rope is really all about, and this movie helps explain things to people who go "what? jump rope? That's dumb" The storyline, in my opinion, was nothing spectacular, but it did alright for a DCOM.

The movie was the BEST movie I've EVER seen! Not only does it have me hero/idol Corbin Bleu in it but all the actors had such great chemistry! In less then 3 days I watched it 9 times because I have it on my DVR. They all worked so hard to learn Double Dutch(well most of them) and it really shows! The music fit every part perfectly,and I think this is a really good movie for people of all ages! You can tell the passion for Double Dutch every time it's mentioned and Corbin(Izzy) never had even thought of doing it before. Not only is the Double Dutching AMAZING but the actors are amazing also! They really look like they have the drive and ambition as needed to come off as someone who really has a major passion for Double Dutching! It's almost like they've been doing it the entire lives. I hope everyone gets a chance to see it and I'm sure you will enjoy it!
