Mr. Bacciagalupe installs a TV in Bud and Lou's apartment where they join Hillary in watching the quiz show "Hold That Cuckoo". Lou takes the Steve Allen-like host's (Bob Hopkins) message to come on the program to heart and visits their office with Bud. The host leads contestants where Lou gets the wrong end of each stunt, but wins a package of bubblegum. On the steps to the apartment house, Bud slaps the gum out of Lou's mouth. It lands on the sidewalk where boozed passerby John Rednose (Bobby Barber) slips and falls and brings the police. He sues Mr. Fields who represents himself in court. As a witness, Lou runs afoul of the judge (Ben Welden) before all dignity of the court breaks down.
