When Harry Met Maggie
lavatch14 December 2020
Warning: Spoilers
When Harry first met Maggie, they seemed destined for each other as high school sweethearts. But they went their separate ways, Maggie to New York to become a successful fashion designer and Harry the homegrown boy remaining in Forrest Mountain working in the local newsroom.

Now, years later, they are reunited around a mysterious string of murders of graduates of Forrest Mountain High School. While their rekindled passion is only a subplot, it may be the best thing in "Circle of Friends."

Five victims died unexpected deaths in a car crash, a fire, a gas leak, a suicide, and an accidental fall from a balcony. Unfortunately, the film gets bogged down in heavy exposition about the different classmates from Forrest Mountain High. It is not until the homestretch of the film that some drama genuinely kicks in. Among the circle of friends, Maggie is the only one who suspects foul play. And the perp has to be one of the people in a photo taken of the high school kids while on a camping trip.

The character who holds the key to unlocking the dark secrets of the past is Bobby "Ozzy" Osbourne, who now is a stand up comic in New York going by the name of Rob West. In the convoluted plot, when Maggie gets Ozzy to talk, she will finally have something tangible to give the hopeless sheriff of Forest Mountain.

Maggie achieves some closure on the death of her husband Richard, who died not by a DUI, but due to a little pill that was inserted into his drink by an ambitious yet insecure social climber and killer. While the mystery is finally solved, the film as a whole seemed flat with only a few sparks that fly when Harry met Maggie.

Mystery maybe

Caught this on. Amazon prime. Hadn't heard of this exact movie before.

Had the feel of a Hallmark Suspense movie. No major surprises and easily figured out before the movie wraps up.

It's okay for something you don't have to pay exact moment by moment detail.

A movie to watch when you don't want to think.

This is one of the 'studentlike' movies where the actors, storyline, dialogue especially is created by amateurs learning to craft their profession. When you don't want to think much and can work at the same time.

Duh.....

Usual vapid made-for-tv tosh which relies on the premise that lead actress Julie Benz is absolutely irresistible (she isn't) and all the male characters flirt desperately with her.

She returns to her home town where some of her former friends are being bumped off and her 'first love' is still pining for her (Benz's dead husband gave her permission to reunite with her first love if he croaked it - which of course he did - how noble).

Featuring the stupidest policeman ever written (he also tried and failed to get into Julie's knickers back in the day and very professionally brings it up at the police station) and a bunch of dumb airheads who, apart from Benz and her first love, don't think anything strange that people are dropping like flies.

I find it amazing that anybody can cobble this stuff together for a few million but I guess you don't need much in the way of talent these days.

Warning: Spoilers
Typical chick flick lifetime garbage without the proverbial architect but rather the price you must pay to be the governor's wife and live a life of ease .... how many dead bodies are enough... apparently as many as you can get by with and not be declared a serial killer ... the dumbest role was detective bill mcdougal that showed he was one stupid flatfoot .... sorry, this junk was not my cup of tea

Pretty good Lifetime-ish thriller
mjanssens268 May 2020
I'm surprised no one has reviewed this title. I caught this on Prime and decided to take a gamble on a film that had no reviews. This is a pretty decent thriller in which Julie Benz is trying to solve the mystery of who's been "offing" her old high school friends. This is one of those "something bad happened in the past and now someone's out for revenge years later" flicks. Don't expect a big budget release but for a Lifetime movie, it's pretty great with likeable characters and a good mystery. No gore at all but there is a large body count. Good for a rainy Sunday or a quarantine night. Don't expect A-list here, but the time went by quickly and the film was a fun watch.

Decent mystery

I am a Julie Benz fan so enjoyed this mystery on Prime,it was well acted and a fun watch,do not expect too much from these kind of Hallmark mystery movies but they do deliver if you want a easy on the eye ( Julie in this case) enjiyable 90 minutes or so. A generous 8 from me,not for everybody ( what is?) But the time went by fast and i think there was good chemistry between Julie's character and Harry.
