Robert Mitchum all but snoozes through this promising war-espionage thriller that pits lazy Gestapo agents against clueless partisans in occupied Greece. The show ends movingly — if somewhat randomly — with the Ps-22 Staten Island Chorus performing “Over the Rainbow” as all of the evening’s winners join them on-stage, with many singing along. Franco and Hathaway wind up bringing in the show only 10 minutes late (most years run way over), and although it was far from the funniest or most dramatic production, it wasn’t as bad as some are making it out to be (Roger Ebert just Tweeted that it was “the worst Oscarcast I’ve ever seen!”). Franco seemed like he didn’t want to be there (it must have been brutal trying to prepare for this only on the...

If the Academy honors both Christian Bale and Melissa Leo with Oscars for their performances in “The Fighter,” as it is widely expected to do, it will mark only the eighth instance in Oscar history in which the best supporting actor and best supporting actress Oscars have been presented that those categories were won by performances from the same film. (Both categories have been presented for the past 73 years, meaning that it has occurred only 9.6% of the time.) The other seven…

As Toy Story 3 arrives on DVD and Blu-ray, we look at other films in which toys walk and talk under their own power, and they've been doing it for quite a while too!
The Toy Story triumvirate will reign supreme among stories of toys coming to life and it's hard to imagine any single film or series that uses the premise of living playthings ever besting the perfect trio of movies.
But having given the hat trick fair praise, the toys in Andy's room weren't the first to walk and talk under their own control, and other stories feature toys springing to life when their owners aren't around or by the power of dreams and wishes, the magic of midnight or, in one case, the might of military grade munitions chips.
So, if you still have room for more childhood toy fantasies and adventures beyond Woody, Buzz and their crew,...

You thought the box-office juggernaut that was Titanic was over? 13 years since Cameron’s epic film sailed the box office seas as the formidable king of the world, The Los Angeles Times is now reporting that Cameron is converting his blockbuster film into 3D to re-release April 2012, to coincide with the 100th anniversary of the ship’s sinking.
I was never a fan of the movie not because it wasn’t good but rather because I had so much Titanic that year ranging from school history classes on the subject, to field trips at exhibits on the ship and even reading a book called A Night to Remember about the ship sinking. Then that movie came out and it was the only thing anyone talked about for months. It drove me bonkers so I am not ready to relive all that attention again, especially on the 100th Anniversary of the ship sinking.

Avatar (20th Century Fox) James Cameron beat his own title as box office champ, set with Titanic over a decade ago, with this eye-popping sci-fi epic about a paraplegic Marine name Sully (Sam Worthington), who takes the form of an “avatar,” or virtual being, to go undercover on the planet Pandora, attempting to infiltrate the native Na’vi to gather intelligence that will aid a joint corporate and military operation to rape the planet of its natural resources, destroying its indigenous population in the process. When Sully suddenly “goes native,” he locks horns with the company CEO (Giovanni Ribisi) and his gung-ho commanding officer (Stephen Lang, in a wonderful, scenery-chewing turn from a long-underrated actor). Thought of by many scholars and film buffs as a “game-changer” as much as the first Star Wars film was—and they may be right. While Cameron’s politically-correct...

Kate Gosselin has her diva behavior. Erin Andrews has those scary death threats. Jake Pavelka has the "Bachelor" scandal rumors. Chad Ochocinco has ... hmmm.
Headlines, for better or for worse (poor Erin!) keep one in the spotlight during a "Dancing With the Stars" season. And the spotlight, for a show with a proven history of being a popularity contest (remember Jerry Rice? Cloris Leachman?), tends to mean more votes.
So could it be that these forced-sounding dating rumors between Ochocinco and his pro partner, Cheryl Burke, are just that? Fodder for media speculation?
Well, if that's the case, then we're guilty of biting. Because we're about to give you the "are they or aren't they?" dating update.
Ochocinco and Burke will appear on "The Ellen Degeneres Show" Friday (April 9) to continue dancing around the dating rumors. To add fuel to the rumor mill fire, expect to see the dance partners dish on that $10,000 (yes,...

Some exciting stuff coming from the mouse at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con. Among the very cool things we’re particularly excited about are the panels concerning Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland and the reboot of Tron called Tron (at least for the moment). Also, Disney plans on having several guests to discuss these films, and the fact that they're all in 3D, including Robert Zemeckis, animation legends John Lasseter and Hayao Miyazaki, Tron reboot producers Sean Bailey and Steve Lisberger, veteran animation directors John Musker and Ron Clements and special guest director/auteur Tim Burton.
With all this, it looks to be a very interesting couple of days around the Disney booth and panels. Check out all the info from Disney’s official release:

When you think of Comic-Con in San Diego, you don’t immediately think of Walt Disney Studios making their presence known. But that’s exactly what they are doing this year. And when you think about it, two titles in particular will fit right in to the comic crazy crowds … Tron and Alice in Wonderland. Here’s the news release from Disney.
Animation greats Hayao Miyazaki and John Lasseter and directors Robert Zemeckis and Tim Burton will take part in their first ever Comic-Con at the San Diego Convention Center July 23-24. The filmmakers will be on hand to help Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures showcase a wide-ranging roster of upcoming films, including 3D juggernauts Alice In Wonderland, Tron and Disney’S A Christmas Carol, and animated gems The Princess And The Frog, Beauty And The Beast, Ponyo and the Toy Story trilogy.
