Believe in me
mitchrmp12 July 2016
Brennan is once again on vacation - working in a morgue in New Orleans to identify bodies from Hurricane Katrina. She wakes up beaten and bruised on her bathroom floor covered in blood. Booth rushes to her side to find out what's going on. He sticks with Brennan when it becomes apparent that she commuted a really, really ugly murder.

Some good things come out of the episode: 1. We are introduced to Federal prosecutor, Caroline, who we will see very often int he upcoming years (in fact, I believe she is still a part of the show in Season 11). 2. A seed is planted for the future relationship of Jack and Angela, a relationship that is still alive and well. 3. The bond between Brennan and Booth increases. Already, this early in the show, one can see a powerful bond between these two. As in a previous episode, people are beginning to recognize this bond that greater than friendship. They do double takes when coming into a room and observing them for only a moment.

The truth that is revealed to Brennan at the end is one of a deep trust and deep bond between the two, I believe. This is another one of those episodes that's often thought about when thinking on the romance of Booth and Brennan. It's well worth the watch!

Do That Voodoo That You Do!
Hitchcoc16 January 2023
In the wake of Katrina, Bones is in New Orleans helping identify bodies in a morgue. But she finds herself amidst people who have a lot of knowledge of voodoo. After she is invited to dinner by a colleague, she finds herself bloodied and broken, with no memory of an entire day. The man whose house she was at has been eviscerated and nailed to a wall. This leads to Brennan being arrested for murder. There is so much focus on the supernatural and those that practice these strange things, we forget what this show should be about. While it is entertaining, much of it is utterly outrageous. By the way, Booth is a complete ass through much of it.

Bones:The Man in the Morgue
Scarecrow-8814 December 2010
Warning: Spoilers
While helping identity bodies after the hurricane Katrina in Naulins, Brennan is suspected of a heinous, ritualistic homicide where a doctor she was supposed to eat supper with is found skinned and spiked crucifixion-style to his wall. She awakens with amnesia, a bum wrist, bumps and bruises, with blood from the victim all over her clothes. Voodoo bags, a missing corpse with only X-rays sent to the Jeffersonian Medico-lab a means to identify him, and Booth's tireless attempts to keep logical, literal Brennan from implicating herself to the New Orleans police--none of this compares to the two voodoo cults warring with each other and how the missing corpse could be the answer to Brennan's safety. There's an interesting conversation scene between Angela and Hodgens over Brennan(after the team find out about Bones' predicament) which plants the seed to their future romance. We are introduced to Prosecutor Caroline Julian(Patricia Belcer) asked by Booth to take on Brennan as a client for her own welfare since Bones can not keep from personally building a case against herself. Interesting idea to feature Katrina's plight within the series allowing Bones a chance to assist in the identification of victims killed during the breaking of levee strongholds, which yielded many drown victims..this during what was supposed to be Brennan's vacation! Michelle Hurd, formerly of LAW AND ORDER:SVU, is the lead detective in New Orleans who suspects Brennan of the murder because of the evidence of blood and it'll be up to Booth and her team to prove otherwise.

More than just a partner!!

Warning: Spoilers
Not sure if this is a classic Bones episode in everyone else's book, but I know it is in mine! The way Bones is naively honest about everything and Booth can't help but protect her, even if it means straight up hiding evidence is PERFECT. Gotta love Caroline in this episode- her dry, witty humor is always a highlight when she's on. Of course, who could forget the *iconic* way Booth tilts Bone's head to check on her, and the way he surprises her with the earring in the end. 10/10 all the way. Shout out to all the Bones Booth clan! -Jill

Hey Bones Booth

Great episode in my opinion. If I woke up covered in blood with no recollection I'd be hysterically freaking out. I appreciated that they didn't treat Voodoo as just an evil religion with all evil people but that its not completely different than other religions. Like with everything there's good and bad it's all how you view and practice it. Not impressed how Booth is very testy when Bones brings anything up about Catholicism but takes pretty much every cheap shot about Voodoo throughout the episode. Zack and Hodgins conversation about about Hodgins trying to look taller around the women was amazing. Caroline Julian yesssss i absolutely love her and everything she says. That character is so well written and so funny. I've noticed that very few people are scary once they've been poked in the eye hahahaha

A fantastic episode

In so many ways because not only are we introduced to caroline but we also get a glimpse of how much Booth and Bones respect each other.

Another reviewer talked about Booth being judgy.. yes, well, he gets really defensive when people talk about his religion or about military men. The point there is to make him more human with flaws so people can relate and like. Cause we all know how protective of his friends he is. Even when Bones was starting to doubt herself, he never did.

Other 2 points to remember are the development of booth and bones relationship and the start of something between hodgins and angela.

Three degrees and still a fool
Overall, I liked this episode. More specifically, Bones just being Bones. It is so like her to use vacation time to help identify bodies (which everyone hates on but let my girl live, I doubt she's the type to enjoy having nothing to do anyway). She also seemed to genuinely respect voodoo as a religion. Plus we got this iconic line: "I've noticed that very few people are scary once they've been poked in the eye." I give her 10/10, ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐⭐ stars, and 👍👍 thumbs up in this episode.

The crime of the episode was interesting enough and pretty gruesome with a skinned body and women shoved onto a spike.

Other things to note: Booth was SO judgy and kept hating on voodoo but getting defensive when Bones talked about Catholicism. We met Caroline!!! She's one of my favorite characters in the show. Zach ignoring Hodgins made me laugh and Hodgins telling Angela that she's the reason Bones wants a big life was a testament to how Hodgins won't always be so abrasive, baby.

A line I loved: "Jesus is not a zombie."

Hi the Bones Booth :)

Is this Bones or Scooby Doo?
interestingstuff10 July 2022
How can anyone take this show seriously after such an incredibly ridiculous episode that was pretty much a cartoon.

Bones was never known to make sense since the show was always borderline stupid but this episode takes stupid to the next level and becomes plain cartoony.

Even if you ignore all the stupidity and ridiculousness of this episode, they start the episode with several questions and end it without answering a single one of them. Why did Brennan lose her memory? How did she lose her memory? What happened after the table got knocked over at the morgue? Who killed those 3 people apart from the daughter? What happened to the skeleton they were examining back home? Why and how did they drop Brennan's charges and how did she regain her memory all of a sudden? Not a single question got answered.

This episode must have been written by a 7 year old kid who watched too many Scooby Doo episodes.

This episode took me by surprise because its based on religious beliefs rather than facts ... it just doesn't correlate ... when the facts don't add up someone is not telling the truth ... wasting an episode to discover this was a complete waste of my time
