Deadline reports that NBC is developing a sequel series to Remington Steele, which would follow Olivia Holt, Remington and Laura‘s daughter, as she reopens the Remington Steele Detective Agency. This version is planned as a half-hour comedy but promises a similar mix of comedy, romance and mystery.
After two episodes, CBS has cancelled We Are Men. 2 Broke Girls, which has seen ratings dive this season, will move in its place. A Big Bang Theory repeat will function as a lead-in to Mom until November, when Mike & Molly returns to the schedule.
We’ll miss Jerry O’Connell’s speedo. Not much else.
Jeffrey Katzenberg claims he offered $75 million to make three additional episodes of Breaking Bad which would have been released online in daily six-minute segments. Katzenberg says he imagined it as, ” the greatest pay-per-view television event for scripted programming anybody’s ever done.” However, he changed his...

What sweets do fighter pilots eat? Can pigs' rectums be passed off as squid? These are the sort of questions that have made This American Life an internet sensation. Henry Barnes meets Ira Glass as he comes searching for British stories
Ira Glass is looking for a story. The host of This American Life, the phenomenally successful Us public radio show, has flown into Sheffield for one night. He has come to the city's documentary festival, hoping all the assembled film-makers will pitch him ideas for Tal, which boasts 1.8 million listeners in the Us, and produces a weekly podcast that's downloaded by 900,000 fans worldwide. His first UK appearance doesn't seem to be going too well, though. "I don't feel like people here know who I am," he says.

FX has a taste for blood. With American Horror Story proving to be a hit, the network has now closed a drama series script development deal with Sons of Anarchy Creator/Showrunner Kurt Sutter and former Hell on Wheels Showrunner John Shiban (Supernatural, Rest Stop) for Lucas Stand.
Based on an idea by Sutter, Lucas Stand is a dark, action-horror drama, with both episodic and serialized elements. It follows the salvation quest of a damaged former special ops soldier, who has been chosen to traverse time and place to hunt down and kill Hell's law-breaking demons.

Tim Tebow is trying to bring a winning environment back to Denver, but even if the Broncos can't get their shit together again this year and there is no Super Bowl on the horizon, the Mile High City does have another pretty interesting event scheduled that might make all the fans of pigskin violence forget their gridiron woes for a while.
For the second consecutive year the Starz Film Center in Denver will be the home for The Mile High Horror Film Festival. (Note: This is not a series of videos depicting sexual exploits in airplane bathrooms gone awry but an actual festival of great horror films!) This year the event takes place from October 7-9.
And although the organizers have not yet announced the slate of films to be screened, some of the special guests have been named. Dan Myrick, the writer/director of the groundbreaking first-person horror film...

Jaimie Alexander was a relative unknown before being cast as Asgardian warrior Sif in Marvel's adaptation of Thor, having appeared in a couple horror movies (Hallowed Ground, Rest Stop) and the TV show Kyle Xy. In an interview with Movieline, Alexander revealed that she was cast after auditioning via Skype.

Welcome back to the last installment of Dread Central’s look back at the 25 milestones that shaped the landscape of independent horror filmmaking over the last 100 years. I apologize for the delay on the last five milestones as I had no idea just how busy I’d be while in Austin covering the South by Southwest Film Festival (which also champions the independent spirit of filmmaking most of the time) so I am glad to be back now and have the opportunity to pay homage to these last five moments in indie horror history.
We’ve already celebrated 20 milestones through 1987, and today we start in 1999 with one of the most innovative independent modern horror films that not only acted as a game changer in the horror genre but also was one of the first movies to effectively use the Internet as a marketing tool.

The saga of violently telekinetic twins, played by identicals Gary and Edmund Entin from the Rest Stop films, is the first American-backed feature by Colombian-born filmmaker Antonio Negret (pictured left), who discussed the movie and his love of horror with Fango.

Twin brothers Gary and Edmund Entin dropped DC a quick line about their wicked roles in the After Dark Original Seconds Apart. Read on for the synopsis and the twins’ dual thoughts along with an exclusive new image from the flick!
Synopsis:
Seth and Jonah are murderous twins who share an evil kinship. Damned from the moment of their births, the brothers possess a talent for telekinesis – a power they are suspected of misusing in the most horrific ways imaginable. As fellow students meet gory fates, a local investigator suspects the twins are connected to these gruesome murders, culminating in one final showdown of brother against brother, evil against evil.
Says Producer Solomon, “Everyone’s heard about that creepy ‘twin thing.’” You just can’t under-estimate the power of twins, and this film is seasoned by the exceptional performances of Gary and Edmund Entin”.
Chris Haberman: What attracted you to the roles?...

This Week in DVD & Blu-ray is a column that compiles all the latest info regarding new DVD and Blu-ray releases, sales, and exclusive deals from stores including Target, Best Buy and Fry’s. The Disappearance Of Alice Creed The Disappearance of Alice Creed opens with two men prepping for what we can only assume—given the title of the film (despite any revelations about its meaning that may come later)—is a kidnapping. We assume correctly. They pull a girl into a van, tie her to a bed, strip her of all her clothes, snap photos of her, and put new clothes on her. All of this takes places without any dialogue, or any understanding of who these people are, how they know each other, or what their motivations are. The less you know about what happens from that point forward, the better. This is the sort of assured, smartly...

In our second news item of the day (apropos, really) for the thriller Seconds Apart , you'll find some on-set footage introducing you to stars and real life brothers Gary and Edmund Entin. Although, introductions are unnecessary for horror fans. You might remember these two from the Rest Stop films released through Warner Bros.' Raw Feed banner. The Entins play Jonah and Seth, twins with telekinetic abilities and murderous appetites that culminate in a showdown between the brothers. Orlando Jones and Samantha Droke also star. Seconds Apart opens this fall through After Dark Originals.

The Honesty Bug bit me in the ass last night. That's why I'm going to share a fact I prefer to keep quiet: I hate to cover Stephen King works. Not because I hate King's material, rather, because I love it with a genuine passion. And, I'm intimidated out of my mind when 'critiquing' just about anything the man has done.
I know damn well Mr. King will never even read this article. But, what if he did? What if he read this article and thought "this 'writer' is a piece of shit, and disgrace to any media outlet willing to entertain his feeble abilities?" Because realistically, as an aspiring writer (I'm learning on the job, and doing a whole lot of pretending at this point) I can recognize that Stephen King is the kind of man who has truly mastered words. The kind of guy who's invested more than...

A pair of upcoming symposia on fright filmmaking and scripting will offer California residents a chance to find out how to get into the genre business, or just listen to their favorite filmmakers dish about the craft. The first takes place Saturday, October 17, when the Los Angeles Screenwriting Expo will be hosting a Horror Writing Panel.
The event, which takes place at the Wilshire Grand Hotel (930 Wilshire Boulevard) from 2-3:30 p.m. on the 17th, features a lineup of exciting fear filmmakers: The House Of The Devil’s Ti West (pictured), Adam Green of Hatchet and the upcoming Frozen, Abominable’s Ryan Schifrin and Eduardo Sanchez, co-creator of The Blair Witch Project whose new Seventh Moon hits DVD this week from Lionsgate. They’ll speak in depth about the craft of creating a successful horror screenplay—and the best part is, it’s only $6. For more info, click here.

Director Kenneth Branagh has cast two more actors in his forthcoming Marvel Studios adaptation of “Thor.” According to THR, those actors are Jaimie Alexander (Kyle Xy, Rest Stop) and Colm Feore (Chicago, 24, The Chronicles of Riddick).
They will join Chris Hemsworth, already cast as Thor; Tom Hiddleston, who plays Loki, the god of mischief who serves as the movie’s villain; and Natalie Portman is Thor’s human love, Jane Foster.
Alexander is set to play Thor’s Asgardian ally, the Lady Sif, who will vie for the Thunder God’s affections with the mortal Jane Foster (Portman). Feore’s character is shrouded in mystery — the studio isn’t even sending the actors the script — though it is known to be a villain.
At the center of the story is The Mighty Thor, a powerful but arrogant warrior whose reckless actions reignite an ancient war. Thor is cast down to...

X-Men Origins: Wolverine
After X-Men and X2, we expected a lot from our adamantium man. But rather than slipping in as another irresistible cinematic piece of high-action fun, we got a flick that didn't even begin to live up to our love of the claws. Jeffrey M. Anderson said a number of negative things about the film, including: "The movie's whitewashing of all the gray areas between good and evil is just one side effect of its dubious approach." Skip it. The first trailer for Dark House, starring Re-animator's Jeffrey Combs, has arrived. The clip recently made its debut at our Los Angeles Weekend of Horrors, at a panel which included writer/director Darin Scott (Tales From The Hood) and his cast, including Combs, Rest Stop’s Diane Salinger, Boogeyman 2’s Matt Cohen, Megan Ory, One Tree Hill’s Bevin Prince, Dollhouse’s Erin Cummings and Reeker’s Scott Whyte.
See the trailer below the cut.
Dark House’s storyline follows the traumatized Claire Thompson (Ory), who tries to come to terms with her demons by revisiting the old house where a terrible children’s massacre took place. The hitch? The place is now being used as a haunted-house attraction set up by Walston Rey (Combs). When the place, formerly run by the evil Miss Darrode (Salinger), is set to open for the press, Walston recruits Claire and a...

We brought you the first trailer for indie thriller Godspeed - featuring Joseph Mckelheer and Cory Knauf from The Hamiltons - a little while back and while that trailer certainly showed some promise it was a fairly early effort cut together for international sales purposes and not the most polished in the world. Well, the film will soon premiere at the Cinevegas Festival in June and in preparation for that the powers that be have just cut together a brand new trailer for the film. This one still has a couple edges - the audio doesn’t seem to have been through post yet - but it is much improved on the whole, a very unsettling little piece of work. Here’s the synopsis:
Charlie Shepard (Joseph Mckelheer, The Hamiltons) is a modern day faith healer, a man who claims that if you let go and believe, then his power...

Indie horror picture The Hamiltons was a solid sleeper hit on the festival circuit a couple years back and a film that we covered extensively in these pages, so we’re more than a little curious to get a look at what stars Joseph Mckelheer and Cory Knauf have been doing since. The answer is Godspeed, a film the duo not only star in but also co-wrote and produced with Sundance alum Robert Saitzyk (After The Flood) in the director’s chair. Here’s the synopsis:
Charlie Shepard (Joseph Mckelheer, The Hamiltons) is a modern day faith healer, a man who claims that if you let go and believe, then his power to heal is very real indeed. Living hand-to-mouth with his young son and wife Rebecca (Jessie Ward, Rest Stop: Don’T Look Back), Charlie ekes out a meager living from his “healing” sessions in a small Alaskan town.
