Steve becomes more like Al!
Sylviastel28 May 2009
When Steve goes away, he leaves behind instructions not to touch his brand new Mercedes-Benz car in the garage. With Marcy's car out of commission, Peggy encourages her to borrow his car to go shopping. When Marcy returns, she admits that she has an accident with the car. When Steve returns home, he is angry at first and then learns about the accident. He feels violated. For the first time, Steve becomes impotent. But Steve has something up his sleeve with Marcy. I felt bad for Marcy if she only knew the truth behind his impotence. The episode is alright and not one of my favorites personally but it's decent enough. It's interesting to see that Steve and Marcy aren't that perfect as a couple together. Maybe it's the beginning of the cracks of their marriage.

Marcy dents Steve's Merc.
BA_Harrison4 September 2022
While Steve is away, Marcy borrows his new Mercedes and prangs it on a fire hydrant. When Steve finds out, it affects his performance in the bedroom. Desperate, Marcy goes to Al for help, who tells her that to rectify the problem she must become more servile. This works but, in an amusing twist, we learn that the whole thing was a scam dreamt up by Al to enable Steve to control his wife.

The revelation at the end is funny but also proves that Steve is little better than his neighbour when it comes to dealing with the opposite sex. A dent in a fender can easily be fixed, but a dent in a relationship is harder to mend. Steve and Marcy's marriage ultimately fails, as we find out in a later season: the writing is already on the wall in this episode...
