Lt. Brass Takes Center Stage
ccthemovieman-16 May 2007
We get a very dramatic start to this show, seeing a crime committed from the video room upstairs looking down at the casino's gambling area where security witnesses a man shooting an employee, then taking a hostage up to the third floor. As Jim Brass and the S.W.A.T. get set for a showdown, we suddenly flash back 15 hours earlier and see a married woman who is lying dead in her house, a bullet through her mouth. There is no sign of the husband.

In no time we find out the kid across the street who mows the lawn of the victim was screwing her when the husband came home and threw him out. This is so typical of CSI shows, where 80 percent of the victims and suspects are dirtballs. Later, we find that husband cowering under this desk at work, an apparent shooting victim with two other people dead in the office.

The biggest in this episode is whether the husband of the dead woman is a slimeball. He appears to be the killer of all of them. However, he could be just "having a bad day," as Lt. Brass puts it, having his wife, his boss and his co-worker all killed in the same day!

Surveillance tapes hold the key to this mystery which features a shocking ending with Lt. Brass, who shows a lot of guts by acting as a negotiator in a room with a killer.

When the suburban housewife Janice Cutler is found dead from a shot to her mouth, Grissom and Warrick investigate the crime scene. Her husband Willie is missing and his car is not in the garage. Sara and Warrick proceed the investigation and he finds flyers of prostitutes in Willie's jacket. He also finds grass in the closet. Capt. Brass and Sara interview the Cutler's gardener, Timothy Johnson, and he says that he had a love affair with Janice. Nick calls the escort Sally from one flyer that Warrick brought and she says that they have dated and would travel together to Hawaii on vacation. When Det. Vartann and Catherine go the travel agency where Willie works, they find two corpses and the wounded Wille in his office hidden under his desk. He says that the owner, Cowboy Dan, is one of the murdered, and his colleague Roger Banks is the other victim. However, Catherine suspects of his story based on the evidences.

"Bang-Bang" is an episode of "CSI" with a great investigation of the team. The tragic conclusion is breathless and leave the viewers looking forward to the sequel. My vote is seven.

The Unluckiest Guy in the World

There is a hostage situation at a casino/hotel. We then go into flashback and see what led to it. A woman has been killed in her home, shot in the mouth. Now everything points to her husband, who has a story that defies reality. Is he telling the truth or is he just a slimy nobody. Brass gets to show off his acting skills here as a hostage negotiator and the CSI's have to wade through a family situation. A sidebar. Warrick has an encounter with his own wife, straining their relationship.
