The last last detective

The final episode and, to be honest, a bit of a let down. There are some fine comedy actors again but the script seems too complicated and the funny lines a bit stretched. Not the way to remember a good show.

Sadly the last episode of The Last Detective

Warning: Spoilers
I love the Last Detective and this sadly is the final episode. Only 17 episodes altogether but it's a British police drama (with a mix of humor) series I can watch over and over. It's that good.

In this episode Dangerous investigates the murder of a member of a secret gentlemen's club, and accusations abound amidst the club's high value insurance policies on its members.

A tense subplot is Dangerous thinking his wife Julie is having an affair, but as it turns out it was nothing of the sort. In fact, Julie was having job interviews for a job in Paris, and she was excited to tell a relieved Dangerous that she got the job. If there was a fifth series, it would have been interesting to see Dangerous commuting back and forth to Paris, and even solving a crime or two near the Eiffel Tower.

I really wish The Last Detective will come back, but at least we have 17 very fine episodes.

Disappointing end to a fine series

Quite apart from anything else, what ever job did dangerous' wife get to necessitate her commuting to Paris: she'd not worked a day doing the whole four series?

The Dead Peasants Society
Prismark1013 June 2023
When a man's dead body is found outside a sports stadium.

Daniel Boden was a member of a Freemason's type organisation. He was unhappy that the club had obtained a block life policy on the lives of its members.

When one of the member's dies, the club gets a payout.

With the violent death of Daniel Boden, Dangerous Davies wonders if members are being deliberately targeted, this was not an isolated death.

Boden's wife thought her husband was having an affair, when he was in cahoots with a female reporter.

The final episode of Dangerous Davies and this was a weak affair. This includes the subplot where his wife Julie keeps getting spotted with a strange man everywhere.

The whole thing was shoddily written. A good example when Davies confronts his boss DI Aspinall for being a member of the fraternity and getting his life insured. Aspinall had no idea his life was insured. Davies just blundered in which is unusual for his character when it comes to challenging authority.
