Ben Browder was originally to reprise his role as John Crichton in the Farscape (1999) parody, but he and Michael Shanks asked to swap roles at the last minute, because they figured it would be funnier. Browder plays Stark, the man in the iron mask which covers the left half of his face.
In the SGC destruction scene, Sgt Siler goes into the gateroom to manually close the iris. He receives a jolt of electricity that throws him across the room and into the blast door. As he sits up, he asks "Why does this always happen to me?" This is because he is the stunt coordinator for the show. So suffice it to say, he gets most of the gratuitous stunt scenes.
Vala pitches Martin with ideas for show ideas. He identifies The Wizard of Oz (1939) plot right away as well as Gilligan's Island (1964). She then pitches the Farscape (1999) parody. Afterwords Martin tells her that he never heard of that story before. Perfect jab to Ben Browder and Claudia Black as they were the leads in Farscape.
Near the end, Marty says the movie was cancelled because the series was renewed. Stargate SG-1 (1997) was originally going to end after seven seasons, with a feature film serving as the show's finale. But the show's ratings on the Sci-Fi Channel led to it being renewed for an eighth season and the film turned into the seventh season two-parter, Lost City: Part 1 (2004) and Lost City: Part 2 (2004).
After season ten of Wormhole X-Treme!, Marty says their movie is back on. Following the final episode of season ten, the Stargate SG-1 (1997) storylines were brought to a close in two films, Stargate: The Ark of Truth (2008) and Stargate: Continuum (2008), both direct-to-video releases.
Martin Wood: the director of "Wormhole X-Treme!" (the show-within-the-show). Peter DeLuise pulled similar double duty when he directed Wormhole X-Treme! (2001) in season five.
