This one won't last long...

It's disappointing--the previews made it seem good. But I don't think I can stand any of the characters, except maybe the drug addict's wife. It annoyingly mixes reality drama with a Sex and the City-wannabe narration and tries to play "relevant" music over the scenes, making them feel very contrived. It's just dorky. I'm sorry--on the first episode I just do not care that Mrs. I Married My High School Sweetheart wants to leave her husband. Maybe think about spending less time at the tanning salon, sister.

They also could have chosen one or two more single women to balance out the annoying married women. And I don't count the big-haired Jersey girl single mom when I say single.

I have never been more bored by a TV show.

Strictly Mediocre

This show has been promoted as reality television done in the style of Desperate Housewives. I really didn't like Desperate Housewives, so maybe it's no surprise that this show left me cold as well.

First of all, the narrator has the most annoying voice on the face of the planet. Part cutesy, part little girl, I'd rather listen to fingernails being dragged down a blackboard.

The real problem, however, is that I just don't buy these "real lives". They all seemed so glossy, so rehearsed, so UN-spontaneous. And the producers couldn't have a happily married couple dealing with a realistic problem, like a child with ADD/HD, autism, being fired, etc? While some of the stories ring true, most of them seem overly dramatized and just too contrived. The newlywed couple that are having problems after only six months- NOBODY could be as big a jerk while being filmed as that husband is. It just doesn't hold water. Same as with the doctor's wife- her reactions and emotions during the scenes of her life were forced and seemed SO unbelievable.

On the other hand, the story with the recovering addict and the woman considering divorce DID seem real.

So what you have is a mixed bag, but really, the good only BARELY outweighs the bad.

I, for one, (in case you couldn't figure this out) will not be watching another episode.

We all know that this is tripe crap. Its oddly addicting and you know it while the concept is completely overstated and badly executed people will tune it because hey we have cable and its America what else is there to do on a Tuesday night?? It may not be original or even REAL but people will watch anything. Case in point FEAR FACTOR I stopped watching reality TV when they started putting leeches down their pants?? We know it can't be real because of the cameras in your face and the lighting is a little too perfect not to mention you never see a boom or camera unlike other reality TV shows. This "Reality" kick we are on is everything but reality. Watch Laguna Beach how can anything be real with cameras in your face and perfect lighting thats far fetched we all don't watch around with our own spot light, if we did I would look much better. Its hard to care about these "Reality" stars when there is nothing to care about when they have money, cars, houses etc. Which is most likely why they disgust us the most right?? Everyone knows that while we sit here and fume about how horrible the show is it will be back next season and most likely a season after that due to the fact that people will watch the show. Did any one else notice the older woman looked like Ann Margeret?? Strange this may be a ploy for older audiences to watch since this is someone they can identify with. Of course this leaves me open for ridicule as well as other attempts at my comment but hey its TV and the internet its entertainment you can be that serious. For all those complaining the show "sucks" why were you watching it??
