Fantasy Land
Hitchcoc11 February 2021
A young guy in a really expensive suit is found dead on the street outside a posh Vegas hotel. It turns out he has had a very romantic tryst with a beautiful girl. He has been driving a Ferrari and living high off the hog. He has been in a fender bender accident also. But all roads lead to the fact that he seems to be the luckiest guy in the world until he is killed. Average offering.

Fantasies, Love and Lie
claudio_carvalho6 February 2023
When a man is found dead in an alley wearing expensive clothes, Grissom and Catherine meet Capt. Brass at the scene. They collect evidences and find a room key from the Palermo hotel in his pocket. Soon they learn his name, Jeff Powell, and he was driving a Ferrari with a sexy blonde. They identify the blonde as Heidi Wolf, who had one-night stand with Jeff. She says that he felt in love with her, but she did not want a long relationship. Capt. Brass and Grissom interview Jeff's boss, Los Angeles' producer Mick Sheridan, who tells them that Jeff was his assistant and saved millions of dollars in his divorce. So he was rewarded with a dream trip to Las Vegas. When Det. Sofia and Nick located the rented Ferrari, they find small damages and soon they discover that a black Corvette was the responsible. They interview the driver, Randy Bolen, who admits that lost a large amount to Jeff in a single game. When they learn that the Caprice Unlimited rented the Ferrari and the Corvette, they find that the company realizes clients' fantasies and they start to solve the case.

"Time of Your Death" is a great episode of "CSI", with a story with many twists. The reason why Jeff Powell is murdered is ironic, based on lie and love in a fantasy. Julie Benz is one of the most beautiful actresses and is perfect In her role. My vote is eight.

Somewhat Routine, Until The End
ccthemovieman-15 May 2007
For most of this program, it was more like the CSI programs in the first year or two when they made it a straight crime scene, before they slowly evolved into featuring bizarre sexual, crazy cases. However, there are sexual innuendos here by several members of the CSI team and none of them have an relevance, and, near the end, we have a "fantasy service" involvement which is a key to the case. In other words, things didn't wind up as normal as they appeared for three-quarters of the episode.

Anyway, the case is simply about a man found murdered and lying outside on the loading dock of a swank casino-hotel. His neck has been broken but he has some "trace" on him that has to be figured out. That "trace" winds up being the chalk you find in pool halls used for cues.

We get is the straight investigation, meaning clues from the body, then from the medical examiner, then from surveillance tapes, from evidence in the hotel room he was staying in (after they discover who the "vic" is), evidence from an accident in an expensive Ferrari that the man had rented, etc.

We also get the typical young, arrogant, thinks-she's hot-female who has an attitude and little in the way of morals or respect or anyone other than herself. Outside of her, we don't get a lot suspects until a little over the halfway point when we get a guy who is similar to the woman.

This case isn't particularly interesting with a weak ending, to be honest, but it's detailed and makes you appreciate (if this is accurate) all the effort that goes into solving a crime.

Uses the idea from Michael Douglas film "The Game" (1997
Metal_Robots4 August 2022
This is an average episode that could have been better. The main plot is basically the same as David Fincher's "buy a fantasy for someone" film called The Game (1997), as CSI gradually discover through the episode.

I have noticed a disappointing trend in season 6. Whereas CSI usually had 2-3 simultaneous plots in each episode (4 in one episode!) which displayed some very dexterous writing verging on genius at times, the writing has now been significantly simplified in season 6 and the episodes now only contain one main plot.

This episode is no different. And although you'd naturally expect this to allow more in-depth coverage of the subject at hand, the scenes in this episode (and many others in season 6) seem to have predictable by-the-numbers dialogue and less of the witty character observations (main character and incidental character) that made previous seasons so entertaining. The effect being that episodes feel like they drag on and actually become slightly tedious at times. It's almost like they have intentionally dumbed-down the show somewhat.

An example being that Catherine Willows character seems to be sidelined to an extent, and although she appears in this episode on a number of occasions, she has very little significant or meaningful input in the story, almost as though the writers included her just for the sake of it and didn't actually know what to do with her. This is also becoming apparent to varying degrees with all the other main characters, Grissom included.

It's a shame and I hope that things pick up in later seasons, as I do really like the show up to this point and would love to see it maintain the high standards set previously.
