A truly horrible viewing experience

My experience of Thai cinema has grown more and more sour over the years. It started out on a strong footing as I watched excellent martial arts flicks like ONG BAK and WARRIOR KING and followed them up with minor classics such as SHUTTER and BANG RAJAN. Sadly, the majority of films coming from Thailand seem to be like NAVY BOYS; made on a very low budget, with amateurish production values and very little effort put into the thing.

This would-be comedy about a group of sailors going up against a criminal organisation is a truly horrible viewing experience and one of the most woeful films I've watched lately. Once again my old motto of 'there's no worse film than an unfunny comedy' is proved with this listless and unfunny film which drags on and on as the humour gets more and more stupid. The 'comedy', if it can be classed as such, is made up of fart and vomit gags, with ridiculously mannered acting and a general lack of coherence throughout. The main actors are obsessed with dressing up in drag with one puerile joke after another following on from that. The only thing mildly interesting about the whole film is the random censorship in which nudity is blurred out (unsurprisingly) along with guns when they're shown in the same frame as the human body. Weird indeed.
