Not excellent - Little Britain has passed its sell-by date.

Britain, Britain, Britain. Here are some facts about Britain you may not know: 1. Little Britain is one of its most famous comedy shows, 2. Even that is starting to get weak from the recycled gags and mostly predictable sketches, 3. But still its most respected TV channel, the BBC, invest in more. Personally, I think Little Britain has jumped the shark - ages ago. The third series was less than overwhelming, but Lucas and Walliams have once again decided that the barminess couldn't stop, and decided to get to work on making this - Little Britain Abroad. To be fair, some of the characters are still good. Andy is the main highlight of this series, and his sketches over the course of this two-part series develop a continuous plot with a proper structure, which makes them fun and intelligent in some way. A+L still have life left in them yet. Ting Tong's sketches weren't great but nevertheless enjoyable, Bubbles DeVere's one-off was surprisingly fun, Carol Beer was good and Maggie and Judy's sketch, though bad taste, was OK and didn't fall into the original, boring formula that plagued their sketches in Series 2 + 3. But unfortunately, some of the sketches in Little Britain Abroad were bad. And these bad sketches were actually the ones with the show's most prestigious characters in. Vicky Pollard is just boring now - I didn't find the court sketches funny, just derivative and bad. Daffyd was just plain offensive - the humour sees to have vanished from the Daffyd sketches and we just get rudeness that will be the closest thing to a laugh these sketches attempt to do. (Of course, I didn't even find them offensive - they were actually just boring.) Sebastian and Michael aren't good anymore and Anne has just become plain infantile now (though I laughed at her two sketches, I must say). Shoddy special effects on Andy and Lou's flight didn't help either, but at least their sketches were good. But it is apparent now that Little Britain has no more mileage left in it. Abroad has worn it down to its end using the last of the canned laughter it has left. There are still some classic quotes and pant-wetting gags to be found, but Little Britain has lost all of its charm and originality now - Catherine Tate seems to have swiped its crown. I hope the rumour that they're planning a fourth series is false - Little Britain is on the verge of ruin now. If a fourth series is made, it will destroy the show, but saying that, it would be a good opportunity for Lou to find out the truth about Andy - even if for nothing else. Little Britain Abroad was less than brilliant, but the only reason they made this lies in the word "Abroad", but that managed to pay off for this show. But Little Britain can't stagger on any further now. 7/10

Still good for a laugh.

More of the same, well not quite. For this 2 part Christmas special, Walliams and Lucus are off to foreign shores, and they're taking their characters with them.

I think some of the characters are beginning to get tired now and it's good to breath new life into them by taking them out of familiar settings. Nothing too spectacular here, I guess some of the characters are beginning to wear a little thin now. If Little Britain is to return then maybe this sort of thing would be a good idea.

This marked a break for the series, which is probably for the best so they can come back in a couple of years rejuvenated.

About as good as you can find for the series--top-notch all the way.

I have always loved "Little Britain"--mostly because the show so rarely shows any sort of restraint or good taste. However, I must admit that a minor problem with the shows has been the uneven nature of them. Some skits work great again and again and again. A few, however, run a bit thin with repeated use. Fortunately, Matt Lucas and David Walliams chose wisely here--presenting only their very best skits. And, in the one case where a relatively weak one was used, it was a shining example of it at its best (such as the visit with the Pope). The bottom line is that if you love the show, you'll adore "Little Britain Abroad". And, if the show creeps you out or annoys you, it will surely do the same here!

By the way, perhaps the shows originally featured the skits as listed on the summary on IMDb (though I doubt it). Part one did NOT have skits involving the Prime Minister nor do you see Dudley and his bride--they are in part two. It really doesn't matter though, as both episodes are presented one after the other on the disc. Also, the special features are amazing--and make the disc well worth owning. You get an hour-long documentary about their live show in Australia, their Comic Relief show (it's ALL Matt and David) and deleted scenes (good one, actually)--a TON of extras in fact!

Left Me Wanting More!

I would have wanted more from the two episodes. I enjoy watching David Walliams and Matt Lucas, the great British comedy duo. They bring back such enjoyable characters going abroad to Mykonos Island with Ruth Jones reprising her role as Myfanwy. The characters visit Spain, Thailand and America without going very far. Guest actors like Rolf Saxon played the American President and Anthony Head played British prime minister. Dawn French played Vicki's mother. It's silly and fun just to watch at times.

A Good Laugh

Little Britain has certainly put itself in the book of legendary comedies. This last instalment was not actually set in Britain (at all) which is a nice change. They manage to find a lot of humour in foreign things. I was pleased to see that nearly all the characters were featured in this two parter.

At Xmas its nice to see a good comedy, even though LB is kind of getting old now. This approach to it was quite new and fresh, I enjoyed it and so did the rest of my family. If there are going to be anymore made they will need to find another approach to the series to make it new and fresh again, Amazing how us Brits can get in everywhere!
