A look at what's new on DVD this week:
"A Summer in Genoa"
Directed by Michael Winterbottom
Released by Entertainment One
Of the many films Michael Winterbottom ("A Mighty Heart," "9 Songs") has directed in recent years, you wouldn't guess the one starring recent Oscar winner Colin Firth as a father who must take care of his two daughters in the wake of a car accident involving their mother (Hope Davis) would be the one to have trouble making it to the U.S. But here we are three years after "Genova," as it's known in much of the rest of the world, was shot and it's finally arrived on DVD, a mix of supernatural thriller and human drama that's actually getting reasonably good reviews upon its delayed release. Catherine Keener co-stars.

Hitting movie theaters this weekend:
The Conspirator – Robin Wright, James McAvoy, Tom Wilkinson
Rio – Jesse Eisenberg, Anne Hathaway, George Lopez
Scream 4 – Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox, David Arquette
Movie of the Week
Scream 4
The Stars: Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox, David Arquette
The Plot: Ten years have passed, and Sidney (Campbell), who has put herself back together thanks in part to her writing, is visited again by the Ghostface Killer.
The Buzz: Wes Craven returns to the franchise that single-handedly rejuvenated the horror industry. Lots of pretty girls run around, most of them get killed, and repeat. But it’s all good fun (somehow). I enjoyed the first two films, but thought the third was pretty blah. I think enough time has passed though to make this a potentially smart beating of a dead horse.
Every Friday we’ll have new reviews of the latest films.

You don’t have to surf to get stoked about Dana Brown’s recent doc Highwater. There’s a lot more than epic 15-foot tubes to admire. The son of Bruce Brown who made the groundbreaking Endless Summer (1966), Brown made his mark with Step into Liquid (2003) and now turns his lens to the beaches of Oahu's North Shore during the Van Triple Crown of Surfing.
But Brown’s coverage is no blow-by-blow rundown of competitors, ratings and elimination rounds. Aside from interviews with some of the sport’s greats like eight-time World Champion Kelly Slater, the audience is also introduced to up-and-coming stars such as the young teenagers Jon-Jon Florence and Carissa Moore as well as others who have sacrificed much for their love of the sport, including shark attack victim Bethany Hamilton and Jessie Billauer, who despite his paralysis after a surfing accident, maintains a passion for the ocean.

Dana Brown ("Step Into Liquid," "Dust to Glory") grew up in the world of competitive surfing. So it's natural that as a filmmaker he should return to this scene for inspiration. His latest film focuses on the Triple Crown of pro surfing, a nearly two-month competition that takes place on the gorgeous beaches of Oahu’s North Shore. The waves that crash against this beach, we are told, are the most incredible, unpredictable, and dangerous ones in the world, a fitting setting for men and women to battle with nature with nothing but a surfboard to protect them.
After setting the scene with some incredible helicopter shots of the rest of Hawaii, the film introduces us to the heavy hitters of pro surfing off the island's North Shore: gritty underdogs, retiring old pros, a couple of preteen wunderkinds, and many eager young surfers trying to...
