Inner demon

Michelle Trachtenberg acts her little heart out in an episode that depends heavily on her star-turning performance as an immuno-suppressed heart transplant patient who suddenly develops unexplained symptoms. Scenes with her as she grows increasingly sick are incredibly harrowing, partly due to the sickly makeup she sports but mostly due to Michelle's utterly convincing performance. The solution is about as risqué and groundbreaking as I have seen on a TV show. It's also hysterical. Wilson saves House's hide in this one by buying him some precious time. Good old Watson. Oops, I mean Wilson. Michell's mom is played by a TV actress not seen in some time, Mel Harris of "30 Something" infamy. Whatever happened to her? Dad is played by that Last Starfighter, Lance Guest. Whatever happened to him? Only the most stalwart among you are likely to recognize this one-time, curly-haired teen heartthrob now turned bearded, balding, middle-aged dad.

Warning: Spoilers
A young heart transplant recipient spends her life in a clean room, but suddenly has an allergic reaction to something while her boyfriend is visiting. We soon learn that her boyfriend snuck in a few nights before to share some intimacy without all the restrictions placed on them by her mother.

As House and the team race for an answer, she develops more and more complications which seem completely unrelated. The parents ultimately turn to Cuddy for a second opinion, when House figures out that the likely culprit is a tick, carried in by the boyfriend during their late night tryst. When the nasty bloodsucker is not easily found, Cuddy pulls rank, but House essentially hi-jacks the patient in an elevator, and ultimately finds the tick following a pelvic exam.

Meanwhile House continues to harass Wilson in a twisted, yet heart-felt attempt to make him face the end of his marriage - something he has been in denial over for a while.

There are some real nice moments in this episode; comic ones and tense ones. The cast is as strong as ever, and seeing Lisa Edelstein (Cuddy) spar with Hugh Laurie (House) is always a treat.

I watched a reel on Instagram with a House clip in it

And then I suddenly had a very strong memory of a scene from House where an elevator opens and reveals House looking at some woman's vagina to the horror of a group outside the elevator, then he pulls a tick out of her.

I was like fully convinced I made this up until I googled it and, as funny as that first image is, the fact that he's doing this to a teenager makes everyone's reactions outside the elevator like 50x funnier.

Also totally appreciate them having that insanely hysterical moment followed by Wilson pranking House. In the context of any show that's not a comedy, it might be the funniest moment in television history.

I'm such a nerd for getting exited over this but House living in 221B just made this show 100 times better for me.

Unlikely ending

Warning: Spoilers
I am a pretty big House fan, but this episode's ending left me hugely disappointed.

I found it unnecessarily over-dramatic and highly unlikely.

Since the girl's body was thoroughly checked at least twice, including the area where House found the "problem" (according to Foreman) - where did that thing come from? I mean, it is pretty impossible to miss something that large and obvious. Also removing it would be impossible in such a simple manner (some preparation is always necessary, otherwise the problem would be worsened).

Other elements of the episode are pretty good (as always), although the stethoscope prank and Wilson's reaction to it are also a little over-the-top.

Someone should take this putz out and shoot him .. he has no redeeming values to society and he whines at the drop of a hat ... sorriest show on tv ... 40 minutes of tests and poking to solve a case that most interns could do while dating all the hot nurses
