This documentary is a triumphant of the underdog. It is right up there with Hoop Dreams, telling stories of incredible young adults who achieve what many may have seemed impossible. You witness there lives change on screen and then want to go out an change your own.

Up until then end of the film you have no idea who will finish the marathon or who will not be able to make it. The editing is tremendous and puts together a storyline that meticulously spans recruiting the athletes all the way to the finish line of the LA Marathon.

I sighed, laughed and cheered throughout the entire film. I left feeling like I was able to accomplish anything , just like the subjects of movie.

Great story, very inspiring, well told and extremely entertaining! This is not your usual running/program film, it's a character driven story with turns and a lot of excitement. All the kids and the adults in this story are inspiring and the way their problems and guidance is showed is very compelling and dramatic. It's all very real and you'll never feel manipulated, the photography very raw and you get to know the students quite close. I've never run before and I was so taken by the story that I felt like doing a marathon right after it. I was hooked from the very start to the last frame. If you have the opportunity to see this movie, go for it.

Runner's High rates high

I saw RUNNER'S HIGH at the San Francisco International Film Festival . The big theater at the Kabuki (seats about 800) was packed and the audience was totally into it. This true story of a group of Oakland teens who are challenged to train for the LA Marathon has both the uplifting stories of those who make it, some against the odds, and those who didn't, for a variety of reasons. These kids represent a range of personalities. We root for them all but some make it more difficult than others, bringing drama to the story.

There are laughs and tears...and when those who make it to the Marathon cross the finish line...the audience cheers.

Go see it when it comes to your town.

Excellent Documentary

Filmed in Oakland and Los Angeles CA this film serves as an inspiration to all of us. It provides a unique and intimate perspective into the lives of a group of teens who take on the seemingly insurmountable challenge of becoming marathon runners with little or no running experience prior to this film.

This inspiring story touches something in all of us. It witnesses people rising to face difficult challenges and circumstances in life to overcome and achieve things they thought were not possible. By the end we are left cheering as some achieve their lofty goal.

If you have a chance, you should go see this film.
