The Brady Bunch steered clear of politics, but I wonder if the president at the time was influenced by The Private Ear and its tape recording and so on. Maybe, but who knows, and really, would anyone in the presidential administration even admit to being influenced by one of the most popular sitcoms ever. Anyway, the tape recording aspect of The Private Ear is very intriguing, and in some ways maybe influence Francis Ford Coppola to direct The Conversation starring Gene Hackman just three years later. Anyway, I've been a fan of The Brady Bunch since the 1970s when it was mandatory after-school viewing.

Peter use's Mike's tape recorder to bug his siblings' conversations.

Peter got many good episodes this season and this is another one. Marcia is the first victim, she confesses to Jan she is in love, Jan's funny reply is "Who is it this time?" After the rest of the family are all fighting, Mike and Carol figure out Peter is the culprit. He has to apologize but Greg and Marcia think he got off easy so they try to teach him a lesson. Chris Knight gives a good performance, being slyly mischievous and later sad and disappointed.

Ok, kids, the moral of this episode is: If you do something wrong, not only will your parents not punish you, but they will actually skip a romantic trip that they had been planning for a while in order to throw you a surprise party. (Well, the party may be for somethin good that you did (or didn"t) actually do, but it wont outweigh the bad thing that you certainly did, so you wont deserve it.).
