Super Bowl Prediction/ Lisa episode
jimbobcom2 May 2021
I just want to say that, this episode is a classic, solid plot, good character development throughout the episode! But another thing that really stood out to me is the fact that this episode, aired 3 days before the Super Bowl of 1992, which pitted Washington redskins against the Buffalo Bills! The score might've been wrong at halftime in the show, but the fact that they predicted Washington winning before the game even happened, coincidental or not, is pretty incredible, especially considering the fact, they had this episode set up a long time in advance, they would've had enough time to change the teams around when the super bowl was set!

Solid Episode!

This is the fourteenth episode of the third season of the Simpsons and it is a pretty effective episode. Lisa is my least favorite Simpsons character and I'm generally not a fan of episodes focused on her. But there is no denying how charming this episode is. This episode focuses on the father-daughter relationship and it also mocks gambling and football.

In this episode, "Lisa the Greek," Lisa decides to take an interest in football in order to spend more time with Homer. When Homer realizes she can accurately predict the outcome of the games, he decides to use her to make a profit. But once Lisa realizes this, she decides not to like her father anymore.

Overall, this is an entertaining episode and I liked how football was spoofed. There is a emotional core here when we see how Homer hurts his daughter, then tries to repair the damage. A solid episode in a great season. I rate this episode 9/10.

Good episode? You can bet on it.

Warning: Spoilers
Lisa the Greek is the season 3 attempt at a Lisa episode, in the tradition of season 1's Moaning Lisa and season 2's Lisa's Substitute. It's an attempt to be funny and emotional at the same time, with a sophisticated character (Lisa) who often feels things deeply. Lisa the Greek works as a comedy, but as a drama it's not up there with Lisa's Substitute. Then again, not every episode has to be like Lisa's Substitute.

Lisa doesn't like how Homer never takes an interest in her and Marge suggests Lisa should instead take an interest in Homer's activities. They watch football together, and Homer realizes Lisa has a gift for picking the team that's likeliest to win. He gambles with her help and wins a lot of money, giving gifts to Marge who's perplexed as to where the money's coming from. When she learns the truth she's upset that Lisa, as a child, is getting involved in gambling. Things turn ugly when, with the football season coming to a close, Homer is no longer interested in spending time with Lisa.

The way this episode ends- Lisa says the outcome of the Superbowl will reveal whether she loves or hates Homer- doesn't actually involve Homer making up for his selfishness. Still, the fact that they go climbing together is sweet. What's interesting about this episode is seeing Homer and Lisa bond after the two seemed so distant in Lisa's Substitute. This episode starts out the same way, with Homer not wanting to sit close to Lisa when they first started watching football- something which, as noted in the DVD commentary, is harsh. But sometimes harsh is funny. It's not the best of the Lisa episodes, but it's a solid effort.

Lisa and Homer - Good To See Together
Gerardrobertson6116 October 2018
It's good to see the relationship between Lisa and Homer in this episode. Without spoiling the plot, Lisa and Homer build a solid relationship by watching football togther, and betting on the game. This could have been a Bart and Homer episode, but works well with Liss, (meanwhile Bart is out shopping with Marge).

One of my favourites from Season 3.

Lisa and Homer

Warning: Spoilers
Lisa the Greek isn't just about Lisa's ability to predict the winner of the football games, it's actually about the Lisa-Homer relationship, and how Homer has to fight his temptation to keep on winning the games by exploiting Lisa's prowess at picking the winners. The ending is quite tense where Homer's relationship with Lisa in the context of father-daughter rides on the outcome of a big game. The sub-plot involving Marge taking Bart for new clothes was okay and kind of drew some laughs.

The ending with Lisa and Homer going hiking was inspiring and affirming for sure and worth watching init.

Better Bettor

Homer finds out that Lisa is a master at predicting the outcomes of NFL games. He begins to make serious money from Moe, his bartender/bookie. While LIsa enjoys her father/daughter time, it soon becomes obvious that Homer is really interested in the money. That's the conflict that is at the center of this episode.
