Bender gets possessed
Tweekums2 May 2012
Warning: Spoilers
When Bender's uncle Vladimir dies he inherits his creepy castle on condition that he spends one night there. After a visitation by the ghosts of his ancestors he flees in terror only to be run over by a car... a car that howls at the moon! Back in New New York he having nightmares about driving around running people down... he has become a were-car! Doomed to rampage the streets every midnight until the original were-car is destroyed. The trail takes them to a car know as 'Project Satan'... a car made from components of all the most evil cars in history.

This is one of my least favourite episodes of the original four seasons but it still has some decent laughs... even weak Futurama is worth watching! The story has the feel of an old Hammer Horror as the crew encounter a bunch of superstitious local peasants before heading up to the castle on the mountain outside town; it seems to reference many of the horror classics; werewolves, Dracula's castle, haunted houses, Frankenstein's monster... there is even a mention of the 'Abominable Snowmobile'! The thing I liked least was a relatively small detail... the way the ware-cars howled and honked at the moon just looked and sounded silly. On the plus side it was funny when Fry is upset that Bender tries to kill Leela rather than himself after Bender has been told he will try to kill his best friend!

Futurama's most Halloweenish episode
gizmomogwai14 October 2009
Warning: Spoilers
Do they still have Halloween in the year 3000? One can only hope. The holiday itself was never brought up on Futurama, but some Halloweenish fun and themes appear in this episode, which I'm reviewing among other horror-related TV episodes and movies this October. As one should expect from this show, such themes are given a futuristic twist.

The episode fits in a number of parodies of well-known horror stories. When the Planet Express Crew make a trip to a castle, they run into superstitious local robots who fear the castle much like human peasants fear Dracula's castle. But there are no robot vampires- instead, it appears that the castle is haunted by robot ghosts. Much like how The Shining had redrum, a message in binary appears on the wall that only becomes terrifying when seen in the mirror. Mainly, though, the episode spoofs werewolf stories, with Bender catching a virus that transforms him into a killer car (a "were-car"). Finally, the yeti is briefly referenced when one of the were-cars is said to be the "Abominable Snowmobile."

There are a number of laughs throughout, some dealing with the irony in how Fry is emotionally hurt by the fact that Bender as a were-car did not try to physically hurt him. We also meet the robotic psychic for the first time. In Godfellas she's ridiculed as a fraud. Here, though, she seems to know what's going on, and the humour is instead found in how much her services cost. This episode isn't scary, but it's still fun, and definitely amusing.

Happy Halloween.

The One Where Bender Is Basically Christen From The Stephen King Book...
taylorkingston20 October 2014
Warning: Spoilers
I really like this episode. It's not one of my favorites, but it still worth a watch or two.

In this episode, Bender pretty much becomes Christine from the Stephen King book, Christine. In case you don't know, Christine is the story of a murderous car. So, Bender pretty much turns into a car and murders, or tries to, people. This is the result of an age-old curse, and the Planet Express crew must work out how to change Bender's newly found, murderous ways before it's too late. I just realized that I said, newly found murderous ways. Wasn't Bender homicidal before this? Anyway...

Overall, I give this episode a 7 out of 10.

Great as always

My review is biased because I love futurama regardless.

The reason for my review is the episode is not season 3 episode 1. I don't know if its different for others but I have season 2 in two different formats and this episode on both is, season 2 episode 18.
