"The Longest Weekend" finds Julie off for a weekend skiing with her divorced neighbor, who endured a bad time being married: "of course it was a bad marriage, she was the wife!" The Sweathogs notice that Kotter just isn't himself, failing to respond to one of his own chops. Gabe tries phoning numbers out of his little back book, ending up playing poker with his students and turning down a double date with Barbarino. Epstein ends up winning five card forehead stud when Horshack folds. Gabe is in the middle of packing to leave for Vermont when his wife arrives home unexpectedly, confessing that the card table hosted a kinky party. One of the rare duds from the first season but still watchable.
