Daria has a crush

It is time for the Alternapalooza music festival and everybody seems to be going; even Daria... she couldn't say no when her friend Jane suggested that they accompany her brother Trent because she clearly has a bit of a crush on him; so much so that she refrains from her usual biting sarcasm. Quinn and her fashionista friends are travelling there too although they are far more concerned about what to wear than what the festival might be like. On the way everything that can happen to embarrass Daria in front of Trent does; although he doesn't seem to notice and when Quinn and her friends spot an outlet shop they instantly forget any idea of going to the festival.

This isn't the most eventful episode as most of it happens in Trent's van; that doesn't mean it wasn't funny though; Daria's various mishaps were amusing without being embarrassing to watch. Quinn and her friends were fairly predictable but provided a reasonable number of chuckles. Overall it was a good enough episode; not one of the best but still well worth watching.

Pretty ordinary....but agreeable enough.

Alternapalooza, the alternative music festival, is coming and Quinn and Daria both make plans to attend. Daria will go with Jane, Trent and one of Trent's Mystik Spiral buddies. Quinn will go with her Fashion Club cohorts and the 3 J's--Jamie, Jeffy and Joey. However, for Daria everything seems to go wrong--which is embarrassing as it happens in front of Trent--with whom she is secretly smitten. And Quinn and her friends can't resist a huge shopping mall on the way. As a result, they all miss the festival.

Not a whole lot happens in this one other than a road trip in which nothing really is accomplished. It's all very pleasant but uneventful. As a result, it's not quite up to the standards of the average episode.

Something about this episode just doesn't excite me.

I think the fact that we see Daria being so self conscious around Trent is awkward. I understand it, but it feels a bit incongruous with her established independent persona. I honestly don't think Daria would be that worried about it.

Also, the Fashion Club subplot is pretty dull. They don't do anything interesting or even get to the festival.
