Quinn gets a reputation for intelligence!
Tweekums28 November 2012
After getting one too many poor grades Quinn is told she will need to get an A on her next essay if she is to avoid failing English. Not being totally stupid she asks Daria to write if for her but after one insult too many even a $15 bribe won't get her sister's help. Amazingly she writes an essay herself, even cancelling a date to do the work; even more amazingly Mr O'Neill is very impressed with it. Soon it is printed in the school newspaper, her father is giving her a financial reward and she suddenly has a reputation as a brain! Not everybody is pleased though; the fashion club aren't pleased when she stops following their dress rules, her boyfriends are intimidated and Daria isn't pleased that her reputation has been stolen… something must be done!.

Three episodes into the second season and there hasn't been a duff episode. Seeing people think Quinn is intellectual was pretty funny especially when her essay isn't that great. It was fun seeing Daria's reaction to her father giving money to Quinn when he never gives any to Daria when she gets an A. The biggest laugh was seeing Daria dressing like Quinn and acting as though she was going on a date just to get Quinn to revert to normal again. I hope the series continues to be as good as it has been so far.

A cute little change of pace for Quinn...and Daria.

Warning: Spoilers
While Quinn is clearly an idiot, in this episode you learn that it's purely by choice. That's because when she's failing English, she manages to actually buckle down and create a good paper. Sure, Daria was right--people thought her work was even better than it was simply because their expectations for her were already very, very low! But regardless, it was nice to see another side of Quinn. Eventually, this new notoriety as a 'brain' gets to Quinn and she starts dressing like a character from a Albert Camus story! Her all-black look even manages to start a fashion trend--so it's up to Sandy to put an end to this. But in the meantime, things are tough for Daria--as Mr. O'Neill thinks the quality of her work has dropped recently and suggests Quinn tutor her!!! Talk about demoralizing!!

This is a very good episode with nice writing. If it weren't sandwiched between two of the very best shows of the series ("The Daria Hunter" and "I Don't") it might stand out more. Still, it's very good and worth seeing.
