Loving the season so far...

Warning: Spoilers
I thought I was in for a typical "Frame and Shame" episode.

I mean, the whole genre was done to death in the post war era. I had hoped we had grown beyond that.

And so far this season had felt so incredibly organic that it really struck a chord. The characters were so real, even though they were obviously toxic stereotypes they still had redeeming qualities. But here we suddenly find a total break in the story and sam in a position that makes absolutely no sense from even 15 seconds before. Nothing lead up to it, nothing preceded it.

But wow, the way they turned this story from a tired thriller into an emotional rollercoaster and made this episodes one of the keys of the season was absolutely top-notch.

The first time I watched this, I fast-forwarded past most of it, but on rewatch, I realised this is a key episode in the Sam-Gene dynamic.

It's oh, so good!

The plot thickens

The plot thickens for Sam Tyler as he learns more about both how life works for the police in the 70's, and also about himself as he tries to get back to 2006.

It's another fast paced, funny in places/gritty in places episode of this well made show, with Glenister and Simm again giving great performances.

My only negative point is that for an episode rated 12 it was quite overly sexual.

Apart from that, a fun hour of entertainment.
