In this episode, it is revealed that Bob and Midge Pinciotti have an older daughter named Valerie. She is either in college or off on her own, since Midge brought a book of poems and stated that one helped her "when Valerie went off to college".
Eric's 17th birthday occurs during s1e2. Later, in s1e9, Thanksgiving occurs. In s5e8, it is Thanksgiving again, but Eric is still 17. He doesn't turn 18 until s6e3.
First appearance of Eric's sister, Laurie.
The sound of a car burn-out is used while the "That '70s Show" logo shakes into view during the intro. This is one of only a few episodes to differentiate from the regular version of the intro used later.
As Laurie leaves Eric's party, Kelso runs around the back of the couch to catch up with her and knocks over the lamp where Eric is sitting. You can even hear it break.
