Daedalus didn't need to ferry the inhabitants back and forth from the planet to Atlantis. Why didn't they just ferry them to the nearest planet with a Stargate(which would definitely be much less than 12 hours) and gate them back to Atlantis? They surely would have had enough time to evacuate everyone.
