Bender challenges Elzar to a cooking competition
Tweekums20 June 2012
Warning: Spoilers
When Bender decides to cook brunch for the crew they attempt to flee but he blocks their way; however when he overhears them saying it is terrible he takes it badly and becomes a robo (robot hobo). He rides the space-rails until he meets Helmut Spargle; a once renowned chef who lost his job on television to Elzar. Spargle agrees to help him learn to cook an edible meal... then promptly dies! With his new skills he challenges Elzar face him on the TV cooking competition 'Iron Cook'... his food might look terrible but it does contain Spargle's secret ingredient which he claims will make any food great. In a secondary story Zoidberg breaks the professor's ship in a bottle and frames Fry only to become overwhelmed by guilt when Fry pays for the damage.

While not a classic episode this had enough laughs and a decent enough story. Elzar provided a few decent laughs although I found Morbo to be funnier; he is just intrinsically funny! Bender's terrible cooking was amusing any mention of Soylent Green is almost guaranteed to raise a laugh for anybody who has seen the film of the same title. Zoidberg's side story was entertaining enough; especially when the two stories come together and he attempts to commit harikiri using a sword belonging to the show's presenter... don't worry he survives!
