This episode, like many, of the series "Wonderfalls" exhibits low-key brilliance in the exposure of the dynamics of a high-functioning family with children of which one is the so-called "blacksheep".
This episode inserts a interloper, a kind of stalker, into the life of Jaye. By taking over Jaye's life which includes stealing her job as well as inserting herself in her social life (even her family), the mysterious "Binky" forces Jaye to leave the confines of the world she has created for herself. In a moment of forced introspection Binky tells Jaye that she has, by design, created her own world where she lives within a "stressless expectation-free zone". The increasing loss of that zone prods Jaye to do something beyond her simple existence...she ghost writes a article about disaffected Gen-Y folks who choose the slacker life-style as an actual goal. Binky gets credit for a published article and Jaye gets her job, and life, back.
This show has a kind of brilliance in execution of poking fun at some human traits, and experiences, we all have at least a foot in. This episodes guest star, Sarah Drew, as the stuttering (her reaction to the stress to succeed in her life) "Binky" is fantastic. Jaye, in the end, realizes she isn't a failure because she is achieving exactly what she sets out to do (stressless, etc.) and if she wants she can be a published author no less. And, Binky gets over her own personal roadblock of "getting started" as a writer. All in all a highly entertaining episode with that great "kernel of truth" thing. Kudos to a great concept, sharp writing, and wonderful cast.
