A partner in crime lay in wait.

Tom Ballard is placed in Bayview by his family, after encountering the irritating staff, he meets Diana Trent, his new neighbour. Tom is a beacon of positive energy, Diana is the reverse.

It's a wonderful start, it sets the scene, and introduces us to the residents of Bayview. Tom is slightly eccentric, and seems to be getting shoved in there by his dreadful daughter in law. The script is fantastic, the one liners are terrific, very cutting, but best of all is the delivery, superb.

Crowden is wonderfully dry and physically very funny, his delivery is magical, couple that with Cole's frosty, sarcasm and equal brilliance, this is going to be a riot. The quality is evident from the first. 8/10

It does a good job of setting the stage for the series.

"Welcome to Bayview" is the first episode of the British series, "Waiting for God". In it, it introduces the main characters: the ever-grumpy Diana, the occasionally barmy Tom, the idiot Baines, the idiot Jane, the idiot Geoffery and his slutty/nutty/angry wife. And, unlike some shows, the characters were very consistent and the writing exceptional from the onset. Often shows need a 'break-in period'...in which characters become established and the show begins to hit its stride.

Overall, a very good episode and one that is fun and well made from start to finish. And, most importantly, it leaves you wanting to see more.
