David is $400 short in funds to buy his first car, so the twins chip in as "investors" which soon after causes problems for David; a beloved tree on Annie's property is in danger of damaging the Hogan's plumbing.
This is another episode that has a very BRADY BUNCH feel to it, but not in a good way. There isn't much witty humor here. The best part is when Annie calls Valerie an "axe murderer" for wanting to cut down the tree because it has sentimental value to Annie. There is a subplot of Annie being considered for a promotion at the university, but it doesn't really go anywhere (and she doesn't get the job).
