Reluctant Assignments
ccthemovieman-116 January 2007
Jonas is off soloing in La Paz, Indonesia, rescuing "kids," as he sarcastically puts it. He isn't enthused.Later in the show, he derides them, using expressions like "stupid Bible thumpers." Meanwhile, the young missionaries and local Christian sympathizers are being butchered by local rebels. A group of kids is hiding out and Jonas must rescue them.

In a subplot, a female senator is at the base and Col. Ryan (Robert Patrick) is trying to get more funds out of her for his group. Apparently, this is not the first time. Apparently the senator is sympathetic but she doesn't always act it. The ladies are putting on a social gathering for her, too. They aren't thrilled about this "assignment" either, but come through with flying colors.

In another subplot, one of the groups is in training and Mack is shot in the arm by the new recruit Bob. Since this group expects perfection, that didn't go over to well and because of it, another team - Bravo - gets picked to go help Jonas out because things are getting very hairy down in LaPaz, Indonesia.

We also get the usual soap opera b.s., this time with "Tiffy" yelling at her husband because he won't tell her how his arm got bloodied. She criticizes his lack of communication skills. (This is the same woman who is cheating on him, BTW.)

The rescue is all done, albeit reluctantly by the unbeliever Jonas, in dramatic form. The untrustworthy local who helps him is a fun guy to watch. I was sorry to see yet another TV show exhibit its anti-Christian bias. Is there any TV program that doesn't show prejudice? Too bad, because otherwise this is a fine show.

Stupid People Could Kill Members of The Unit
Jossgod29 November 2011
Warning: Spoilers
While the other reviewer of this episode felt that Evangelical Christianity took a hit because Hollywood hates it, I say it was stupid people in general that took a hit. Jonas isn't pumped about this mission because he is forced to risk his life to save a group of people whom have been forcing their religion on people whom have shown many times that they aren't interested, thank you very much.

Snakedoctor is sent to rescue a group of six snotty, early-twenty-somethings who force their religion on the locals, who don't want it. In fact, they force it on them so insistently that the locals want to kill them.

To make it worse, the only reason Jonas is sent to save these kids, and to risk his life, is because one of the missionaries's uncle has a job in high places in the US government. In other words, if Miss Missionary's uncle had been Fred down at the gas station the rescue mission would have never been considered, let alone attempted by one of the 100 best soldiers in the world.

To add insult to Jonas's could-have-happened injury, the rescue-es aren't even thankful.

Worse episode ever
purnomosetiawan12 July 2016
So many mistakes were made on this episode - No place call La Paz in Indonesia, not even close, it sounds Latin City. - Jonas sent to Medan, but we saw him drove a van with F license number. F license plate is belong to Bogor West Java, which it's 2000 km away from Medan and it's not at the same island. Cityof Medan have BK license plate number. -When Jonas stopped by the local, we saw on the background a Borobudur Temple, Borobudur is located in Magelang Central Java, 2.600 km away from Medan and again. it's located on different island. -All the local people didn't look like Indonesian people, they look closer to Vietnamese or Chinese people -all the vehicle have left side steering, just like many other Asian country, Vehicle in Indonesia have right side steering

Profoundly stupid episode
DSPMachine19 November 2019
The portrayal of missionaries comes across not only as wholly biased (they have zero redeeming qualities), but also ignorant, and really quite ironic. In this story, they find a place where nobody wants them, and decide that's where they should construct a building. And of course they are thankless, stupid, and endanger others. (In truth, of course, missionaries first find people who want to hear what they teach ... the building, if it is ever built, is done later. And they are the most culturally sensitive people I've ever met, and at least among the most self-sacrificing. They often bring with them some combination of food, medicine, and education.) But the ultimate irony is that the accusation that missionaries go where they aren't wanted is leveled by a man whose entire career is to show up in places where he isn't allowed, and to kill the people there. But I guess that's better than thumping a bible. I just can't watch a show this stupid.
